    Taiko Audio Extreme Switch

It's been a while since I listened to my system unfortunately (roll on July) but I remember being able to easily discern differences between support materials just using the supplied copper feet on the Switch, varying between wide-open / looser sounding <> tight / focus, basically what I recall...

Introducing Olympus & Olympus I/O - A new perspective on modern music playback

Are there any signs that they are having the desired effect..?

Introducing Olympus & Olympus I/O - A new perspective on modern music playback

Indeed, its great to see! AFAIK (and I hope) a new-hire Taiko design engineer will be working on an XDMI <> ProISL daughter card as their first project, IIRC it was potentially for the May-ish timeframe. In my recent dealings with Vince at MSB I've been urging him to have their team...

I definitely look forward to Emile's recommendation! [Edit] We just got it!

Introducing Olympus & Olympus I/O - A new perspective on modern music playback

Steve, I'm in a strange situation where my system isn't in the house I spend most time at (long story), so I've had to get used to bursts of hifi. I will eventually move to be with it full time. But for now the advantages of the other place I live (see profile photo!) make up for it, and I...

Introducing Olympus & Olympus I/O - A new perspective on modern music playback

Well, I shut down my system last night and won't be back until July. I will of course keep 'listening' vicariously through these forums. I just had a few (very happy) days listening to my new MSB Select Dac, which was a real step up from what I had before. The silver lining / best laid plan is...

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

Earlier this week @EuroDriver helped me with a support issue - I was unable to connect my new Dac via USB, turned out I needed a new USB driver. I think this was well into the evening for him, but he was really quick to get on the case, and we had a good chat while I watched him sort it out on...

Introducing Olympus & Olympus I/O - A new perspective on modern music playback

I'm looking forward to trying it out, I've realised that (with RCA to XLR adapters) I'll be able to do a not quite apples to apples a/b test vs Select Dac using the analog in to MSBs pre-amp section.

Introducing Olympus & Olympus I/O - A new perspective on modern music playback

That's my understanding of what the 'base board' that each daughterboard attaches to is, i.e. 'the XDMI hardware interface'. So they would 'just' need to agree on an external connector to use (unless its already decided).

Introducing Olympus & Olympus I/O - A new perspective on modern music playback

It'd be great to see the mini-bps that powers the Taiko router and switch - if possible - be a 'general purpose' LPS-killer device that offers a selection of output voltages. Just asking for 'a friend' who is keen to see what can be done to improve the DC supply c.f. the MSB Select Dac...

Introducing Olympus & Olympus I/O - A new perspective on modern music playback

Regardless of file format / sample rate I think you'll be impressed with XDMS / NSM. A brave new world indeed.

Introducing Olympus & Olympus I/O - A new perspective on modern music playback

"You had mentioned that down sampling the larger files and DSD sounds better." Post 442. This is interesting, I missed that nugget. I currently use a Chord DAVE, and having 'come up' through that route, a lot of PGGB wav files. Undoubtedly to my ears the 16x sample rate, very large...

Taiko Audio XDMS - Extreme Direct Music Server Software

I've been able to listen to NSM for a day or so now (thanks Khyle!) and I definitely feel like its a leap forward. Wow. Everyone has already covered the sonic specifics, but everything about it is so 'right' - absolutely compelling. What a trajectory this is! Next leaps - Olympus & XDMI...

@Taiko Audio - are you able to share your currently expected date for the XDMI to MSB Pro I2S interface to be shipping, please?

Introducing Olympus & Olympus I/O - A new perspective on modern music playback

This is shaping up to be fantastic Emile, it all makes total sense to me and seems super smart. Although pricing is to be announced, from what you are saying I really appreciate your obvious focus on it. And I fully respect and value the huge amount of effort and expertise that has gone into...

    Taiko Audio Extreme Router

Just as an extra data point at this stage, I have had TaikoAudio SSID drop outs since the update, too. Will wait a few days and see if I can figure out steps to reproduce before talking to support.

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

I think I have done something similar to what you are asking, Steve. But not the same. I initially powered my Router (and Switch) with an LPS with additional voltage regulation, a claimed 750 nanovolts. When I added the DCD I powered it from the LPS only (ie removed the regulation / filtering...

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

I can vouch for this as I had a seamless out-of-the-box router experience, I didn’t have a single issue installing or subsequently.

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

Re - DCD vs BPS, how I’m interpreting the information released so far (large SQ uptick, v low noise, fast, high current capability) as is that the BPS will out perform LPS + DCD to such an extent that we’ll be clamoring to power our modems, DACs, etc. with yet to be confirmed standalone mini...

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

I didn’t use the wall wart at all, I originally had an Uptone Js2 feeding i) an uptone ultracap -> Switch and ii) an ldovr voltage regulator -> Router. The JS2 stayed, powering the DCD with Switch & Router connected via default / default filters.

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

The overall improvement with the Switch+NIC, Router, and DCD in my system has been phenomenal, and one week+ into Router & DCD you'd have to prise any one of the 3 from my 'cold dead hands' (to borrow a phrase). Still listening via XDMS, default/default Sadly I have to wait to experiment with...

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

My router just arrived, and I'm happy to report a super-positive set up and first listening experience. Thanks to the sacrifice of those who've gone before me, I followed the steps of - switch off Extreme (front panel), switch, and router - switch them on in reverse of that order with suitable...
