Nice to see you’ve added a sub to your CLX - I have 2 JL Audio E110 subs behind my CLXs. Fills the bass in perfectly - no ARC or PBK but I’ve dialed them in with placement, phase adjustment and level.
Actually had nothing to do with storm or external surge. I was swapping in new components and when I powered on the amp got thumps in the left channel and eventually determined it was due to a bad interconnect. Surprising but I guess it can happen.
Nothing to the panel. Apparently a short of some sort (blaming it on the cable but who really knows) sent power surge that knocked out the bass panel which ended up needing a new crossover. Fun working on the guts of this amazing speaker. Fortunately it wasn’t the DEC board which would have...
I've swapped in front row XLR and speaker cables as well. I couldn't really say if they're a big step up from the AU24sx cables, since when I swapped them in I was also upgrading amp and preamp to Pass XP22 and X250.8, and then I had to wait a month for parts to repair one of my CLX speakers...
Are you running subs with your CLX? If so are you running full range or high-passing the main speakers? I’m considering that route possibly using the JL Audio cr-1 crossover..
I am using a balanced headphone cable from Danacable - the Lazuli Reference with my Focal Utopias which I'm quite happy with. You can get them on a trial basis to compare to the TA.
Have you received your front row cables yet? Would love to hear your thoughts. I have an opportunity to upgrade the XLR interconnects (DAC to preamp, preamp to amp), and speaker cables from AU-24sx to front row, and am strongly considering it (have also recently upgraded to Pass XP-22/X250.8...
Hi Big Dog - just catching up here. I strongly considered Esoteric for SACD playback but in the end exercised some restraint and got a good deal on the Marantz SA-10, which sounds really good (also using as a DAC for now). Rest of the system besides the CLX and JL e110 subs and Pass...
Kostas,
Well, I didn't compare to 8 other amps but I'm certainly happy with my choice (electric bills - who cares?) and I do like to rock out on occasion (though I have not measured dB levels). I'm using the Pass XP-10 preamp, CLX run full range with JL Audio e110s crossed over at 55hz which...
I don't see any cat hairs on my CLX - but my cats are short hairs so that could be why. By the way, I recently switched amplification to Pass Labs. I was not initially thinking the 30.8 would cut it, but these units are VERY conservatively rated and I am loving the Class A sound through the...
