    Degritter ultrasonic record cleaner

Each time it has been background noise between tracks that I thought should be less. 9 times out of 10 using an Enzyme soak and a traditional RCM does not help. 1 in 10 times it has helped (3 times total) where I used the AIVS Enzymatic Cleaner and literally soaked the album for 30-40 minutes...

    Degritter ultrasonic record cleaner

I've cleaned over 250 albums with my Degritter. On a very rare occasion I will run into an album that requires additional cleaning. I typically run the album on another 1-2 cycles on the Degritter and it solves the issue. 3 times I have run into an album that required a deep enzymatic soak on...

    Degritter ultrasonic record cleaner

I had not emailed him, but just did after reading your post. I will keep the group updated on what he says. I love the ease of use of the Degritter but am frustrated with the multiple cleanings required so hopefully we can find a solution.

    Degritter ultrasonic record cleaner

I had a similar problem but it was always on new albums. Never on albums that had previously been cleaned. I especially had the problem with some of the "colored" vinyl albums - but that may just be a case of the foam being more visible on a translucent surface.

    Degritter ultrasonic record cleaner

After cleaning nearly 80 times (about 50 albums) with my new Degritter I have developed a problem. I am not getting any errors or warnings, but I am having to clean many records 3-5 times to get rid of the majority of background noise between tracks. When new, that wasn't an issue. but after a...

    Degritter ultrasonic record cleaner

That is exactly what I am doing. When I have that record that can use a little more help I put it through my RCM cleaning process - and then run it through the Degritter one more time afterwards for good measure :)

    Degritter ultrasonic record cleaner

Owning a Degritter and a Clear Audio Smart Matrix Pro RCM I cannot say the Degritter does a better job. In fact I tend to think I get slightly better results with the Clear Audio RCM with respect to background noise - However the amount of work for the miniscule difference is night and day...

Problem with Rega Aria Phono Stage

I currently run a Rega P8 with Aphetta 3 MC cartridge. I have been using a Rega Aria Phonostage and it has recently begun to cause a low level buzz in my speakers once it warms up. When I first power it on it is dead silent, but after playing an album or two you can hear a low level buzz in...

    Degritter ultrasonic record cleaner

Ok, after cleaning several albums today with my new Degritter. My thoughts so far when compared to my Clear Audio Smart Matrix Pro using the AIVS three step system. I have not noticed a reduced background level with the Degritter. Both seem to provide similar result. Albums that were cleaned...

    Degritter ultrasonic record cleaner

Questions for those using a Degritter (mine finally arrives tomorrow). How often do you have to clean a record more than once. With my current RCM I occasionally have to clean a second time (usually a deep clean with enzyme soak) to get a record clean - problem is only about 1/3rd of the time...

    Turntable static

Only until you start to play it. The friction of playing the record creates static electricity. I wet cleaned my records and used a Zerostat and still had static issues. I didn't want a noisy humidifier that required constant maintenance, so I opted for the DS Audio Ionizer-001. It constantly...

    Turntable static

I bought one a few weeks ago and it works perfectly. It eliminated the static induced pops I was hearing and it removed the static from the albums I was playing so that the wool turntable mat no longer stuck to the album when removed. It also means my records do not attract dust while playing...

    Small dents in record

Usually caused by a small air pocket that expanded and then collapsed during the pressing. Most don't hurt a thing as long as your cartridge/tonearm can track through them.

    Degritter ultrasonic record cleaner

Thank you for the recommendation and the email address of Albert Porter. He has one in stock so I am ordering it immediately!! I will cancel my order with Hi-Fi Heaven since they still do not have any in stock.

    Degritter ultrasonic record cleaner

Does anyone know of a vendor with a Degritter in stock? I have one ordered from Hi_Fi Heaven but they seem to be having trouble getting one.

    REGA RP10 isolation platform

I tried the Rega Wall Bracket for the P8 / P10 and it was horrible. (I run a Planar 8) I did not have the ability to place it on a load bearing wall and it picked up resonances from the wall that would not allow me to turn the volume up to even listening levels. I then tried the Symposium...

    DS Audio Ionizer

I purchased the DS Audio Ionizer-001 and absolutely love it. I was getting static pops while playing records (even after using the Milty). By the time I had flipped the record and played side 2 my wool mat would be stuck to the record when I removed it. You could hear the static as I would...

    RCM Cleaning brushes

Thanks for the wonderful explanation. I typically go with 5 minutes of soaking with the 1 step enzyme cleaner of the 3 step AIVS process. I will distribute the fluid on the record, give it a good scrub (5-6 rotations in each direction) and let it soak for 5 minutes. I then give it a second...

    Degritter ultrasonic record cleaner

Thank you! That is what I was hoping for. I was going to splurge and get the ClearAudio Double Matrix Pro but everywhere I looked they were backordered. Then I started reading really good reviews on the Degritter and I cancelled my order for the ClearAudio. I will opt for the Degritter...

    Degritter ultrasonic record cleaner

On average do you experience a lower noise floor on those albums cleaned with the Degritter vs. the VPI?. I keep seeing comments that most people who use Ultrasonic cleaning seem to this the vinyl noise is reduced significantly vs. vacuum based RCMs.

    RCM Cleaning brushes

I am using that AIVS 3 step methodology with dual ultra clean water rinses (resorting to the 4 step if a 2nd cleaning is needed) but rather than using the Osage brushes I am using the VPI brushes (which at least appear to be very similar in design). Both are made of anti-microbial nylon...

    RCM Cleaning brushes

I just cleaned 200 albums. 100 I used the VPI brushes that come with the HW1. The other 100 I used the Mofi brushes. My results were interesting. I found the Mofi brushes much easier to use and control to protect the record labels. However of the 100 cleaned with the Mofi brushes, I had to...

    Degritter ultrasonic record cleaner

For those of you that have a Degritter, do you also keep a VPI or similar RCM? I have a month old ClearAudio Smart Matrix Pro that works very well but I am hoping I will have no need for it after purchasing a Degritter (a mental way to justify the extra expense).

Clear Audio Smart Matrix Pro - springs

I've not had that problem. I cannot get my platter to stop - you can put considerable force on it and it keeps turning. The springs seem to work perfectly - they just fall off the vacuum tube when you remove them from the RCM and are easy to lose. Overall it is a great machine. I am going to...

Clear Audio Smart Matrix Pro - springs

I like my Clear Audio Smart Matrix Pro - my only complaint is the springs that allow the vacuum tubes to pop up after shutting off the vacuum are not attached and easily fall off the vacuum tube. In the first 2 weeks of ownership I have lost one spring and nearly lost a second one. (yes it is...

    Clear Audio Double Matrix questions

I currently clean my albums using the Clear Audio Smart Matrix Pro (very similar to the VPI HW1). I buy a lot of used albums as well as new and I clean everything before putting it on my turntable. I use the AIVS 3 step process and have had great success. I am considering moving to the Clear...

    Record Cleaning Machines

I am using the ClearAudio Smart Matrix Pro RCM and thus far am very happy with it. The VPI's were on back order everywhere when I needed one and the ClearAudio had great reviews. I use VPI brushes with the AIVS cleaning system.
