    new 45rpm direct-to-disc---Dvorak Symphony No.9---he who hesitates...

Received my copy today, number 771 of 1893, and played it. Overall, the quality was reasonably good, with some exceptions. Side A was fine. Side B had noticeable surface noise but the compelling music mitigated that aspect in my listening. Sides C, D, E, and F were mostly good, with an...

I received notification today that the UK vendor shipped my order of this item. Upon receipt, it will be interesting to hear how it sounds, considering the diversity of opinion posted so far.

    new 45rpm direct-to-disc---Dvorak Symphony No.9---he who hesitates...

Today, January 1, 2024, I received a notification that Presto continues to be out of stock on this item. Before officially canceling my order, I wrote asking if they thought they would eventually receive it or if that window had passed due to the limited pressing quantity. I await Presto's response.

    Constellation upgrade question

Hi DaveUK. I have the Taurus stereo amp. I did have the Inspiration for several years and traded up to the Taurus. I liked the Inspiration, when I had it, but I love the Taurus! To me, it sounds better but I would be hard pressed to explain to you why, lol. I don't have Wilson speakers. I have...

Constellation Audio Taurus/Pictor vs Luxman M10x/C900U for Magico S3 mk II speakers

I don't have Magico speakers. I do have the Constellation Taurus stereo amp and the Pictor preamp, including the optional DC filter. I can recommend them without reservation. I listen to all types of music and the detail and immediacy of the music emanating from my speakers continues to astonish...

Can digital get to vinyl sound and at what price?

Here are some of the vinyl pressings in my collection that, to my ears, sound very good and usually get a good response when played for guests. I don't think any of them will be a surprise, as they seem to be popular with audiophiles. From Analogue Productions, the following 45 rpm pressings...

Can digital get to vinyl sound and at what price?

I always felt that a good vinyl pressing sounded better than a cd, no ifs, ands, or buts. That opinion is currently being challenged by some recent changes to my audio setup. Because I'm running out of space in my apartment to store media, I decided to investigate the online digital world in an...

    Strange

The second used pair above on EBay has a listed price that is well over the cost of a new pair. That is strange, lol.

Do Mobile Fidelity Vinyl Re-issues Have a Digital Step in the Process?

Well, the info on the box set notes that the LP "Dire Straits" was was mastered from analogue. Even though it's at 33rpm, I would love to hear how it sounds compared to mine. I just don't feel like springing for about $200 for the set to find out, lol.

Do Mobile Fidelity Vinyl Re-issues Have a Digital Step in the Process?

I'm not certain that Analogue Productions ever released this title. I've only seen Mobile Fidelity editions.

Do Mobile Fidelity Vinyl Re-issues Have a Digital Step in the Process?

I am way out of the loop to hazard a guess on which digital master was used. My copy was purchased in December 2019 from Acoustic Sounds. The album jacket has a Special Edition No. 006646. If someone can discern which master was used from that information, more power to them , lol.

Do Mobile Fidelity Vinyl Re-issues Have a Digital Step in the Process?

Just adding my two cents to this discussion. Was I disappointed there is a digital step involved? Yes. However, in mitigation, I turn to the 45 rpm MFSL2-466 "Dire Straits" double LP in my collection. Based on recent reporting, this item has a digital step. To me, even with that black mark, lol...

    Masterbuilt Performance Series

I have Masterbuilt Signature series speaker cables in my system and, in my opinion, they are awesome. I can't compare them to the other series in the line, as I haven't heard the others, but I think you are in good hands with any of their products. The Signatures sound amazing. I can't even...

The Drifters-Which Era Do You Prefer?

Johnny Moore was the lead on "Adorable", released in October 1955. My favorite lead singer in the group was the late Rudy Lewis. He was great on such tunes as " Sweets for my Sweet", "Some Kind of Wonderful", and "On Broadway", among others.

    Recommendations of bookshelf speakers

I live in a one bedroom apartment with a not so large living room. The bookshelf size speakers (on stands) for my system are the Von Schweikert Unifield 2 Signature model. This is the upgraded version of their less costly Unifield 2, which I used to have. Both are excellent sounding speakers and...

    Albert von Schweikert March 13, 1945 - May 29, 2020

Sorry to hear of your father's passing, Damon. I always enjoyed the few times I talked to him at various audio shows. He will always be remembered in my living room as I listen to my Unifield 2 Signature speakers. RIP. Jim R.
