I managed to source some used, they are very good - best speakers I’ve owned to date (previous speakers Troels Gravesen 7751, 3WC-15, Spendor, B&W, Wilson Audio Watt-puppy etc…) - feel free to contact me if you want to chat.
@Salectric thanks. I’m going to stick with the classic configuration of short interconnects (1.5 to 2m) and longer speaker cables (4-5m).
I have a PSAudio Directstream which I like a lot, apparently it sounds better via XLR outputs. I do have an autoformer preamp, but I’m now wondering if I...
I'm lucky enough to own a pair of Audio Note Shinri 8w 300b monoblocks... there seems to be very little around in terms of high end RCA interconnect reviews/comparisons. Has anyone got any thoughts?
I was wondering if some Mundorf silver/gold wire with Audio Note RCAs might be a good...
Further feedback on this - 1 and a bit years more wiser - I have heard a pair of Cube Nenuphar/Jazzon recently and it got me thinking about the Ampeggios again. I do wonder if speaker placement (owner was aiming for a very wide soundstage and sweetspot) and also potentially associated...
Try Network acoustics Muon… it’s current cream of the crop at the moment IMO (please note that I haven’t tried it on TAIKO extreme, just my own DIY server with TAIKO parts).
Re- opening this thread. Anyone got thoughts on spdif performance of some of the newer DDC’s? Denafrips Gaia, Gustard U18?
I currently have matrix audio x-spdif 2. Very good, but I want more of what it gives me.
The ‘older’ audiophileo also looks very good…
Would welcome feedback
Well I listened to the Ampeggios. They are the version before the field coil upgrade.
The owners electronics was all ultra high end stuff - formula DAC, SGM extreme music server etc… really nice.
My overall impression is one of delicacy, clarity and detail. They have a very revealing mid and...
Hi,
I am looking for a UK owner of Voxativ speakers, ideally ampeggio.
Voxativ don’t currently have a UK dealer, so am looking for someone who would be happy to demo them to me?
Happy to bring over some of my gear over for you to try out as well (I have some very good digital audio stuff...
Hi Phil - I use ASP as it makes it easier to choose whatever DAC you like beforehand.
I love the LX521’s, but the fact that they need 6-10 channels of amplification can be a real pain. I’d love a simple 2 channel solution, but so far the only speakers I’ve heard that give a similar experience...
Hi Marc - shared some discussions with you previously. Like you say, with lockdown easing there is definitely more opportunity to share listening with others.
I’d be happy to welcome others into my home for demos (Linkwitz lx521) and potentially take some of my equipment to other peoples...
I still haven't heard a denafrips, but my understanding is that it potentially has less presence and boogie factor compared to the dynamics of thee T+A... it is 'a more pleasant' sounding DAC perhaps. It might be amazing, but I feel hesitant to try and source one out to test based on these...
Hi spiritofmusic - have you had the Yggy and Holo audio in your system. I'm finding the Yggy a good listen using just 44.1 PCM, no need to up sample everything to DSD like with the T+A.
Looks like you've been through / going through the same journey as me.
I've listened to the Tambaqui -...
Thanks - very useful. Sounds like denafrips is a bit on the neutral side for me (I will presume that the Terminator has the same sound signature as the ares).
Also interesting that I have a Yggdrasil (Unison model) in at the moment, and whilst I need to listen to it a bit more, I find it quite...
Plenty of reviews and comparisons of Denafrips R2R ladder DACs, but none of them ever reference the T+A DAC 8 DSD - anyone got any insight / experience?
