Arguing about nothing is entirely in the spirit of the non-thread.

There's so much nothing here, it's almost turning into something. Need to get the thread back on track or the pointless void will be forgotten.

Ron has it easy over here. He should go over to ASR where they wait like objectivist spiders in a web for naifs who might suggest they like a component because it ‘sounds good’, upon which they receive page after page of mockery and vitriol for not having double blind studies and measurements...

What are the Top Horn Speakers in the World Today? Vox Olympian vs Avantgarde Trio vs ???

What happens when the Contendos fire up and crash through the back wall and fly away? Just kidding. They are magnificent. I think 'voted off the island Carlos' needs a set. I like the form factor and the appearance of the Elysio horns. They look like they might even avoid a certain level of...

    David Karmeli’s Bionor/Lamm/AS-2000 Audio System

Thanks. My pet birds trump me holding a DHT globe tube it seems.

    David Karmeli’s Bionor/Lamm/AS-2000 Audio System

No, I have nothing to offer in that regard, but the vid was interesting.

    David Karmeli’s Bionor/Lamm/AS-2000 Audio System

Vitavox CN 191, vid has language barrier. Looks like he is using the Quad amps and preamps in the second half.

    David Karmeli’s Bionor/Lamm/AS-2000 Audio System

Microphones plus mastering manipulations plus storage rendering device plus transmission device means at best a simulacrum program played on a playing piano (stereo system etc.). Any resemblance to the original 'live' performance (even assuming people were listening as such) may be welcome...

Field Coil Driver Panel Discussion at Southwest Audio Fest 2024

Interesting talk, thanks Ron. I always wondered if there was anybody who ever attempted field coil ribbon speakers to really ramp up the efficiency.

Ron's Favorite Private Rooms + Systems of All Time

I'll settle this dispute. Ron both did, and did not, answer the posited question.

The parrot got a lot of votes, RIP the blessed beast. Or, maybe the still living bird, Petey the Girl Parrot.

    Rhapsody.Audio Listening Rooms

A good sounding vid. It's surprising that a bit of the DHT character manages to make it through the thicket of YouTube processing.

    Rhapsody.Audio Listening Rooms

I believe. Like the Asian gurus also opine, transformers sound much better after a year of use. Then, they sound much better again after twenty years of use. That would be a rather difficult double blind study.

Like the late great Paul Klipsch said, what the audio world needs is a really good 5 watt amplifier.

Ron's Favorite Private Rooms + Systems of All Time

LOL! To add the keelhauling, I doubt that Ron would ever visit a DIY guy's basement irregular montage or 'ugly' system even if it sounded great. Favorites will be 1. Clean and orderly as a showroom and visually neat or pretty 2. Bigga Badda 3. Expensivo 4. Consisting mostly if not all of...

Ron's Favorite Private Rooms + Systems of All Time

Who cares how he chooses his favorites of "OPS" aka Other People's Systems. Spending a couple of weeks with the foreign systems after kicking out the owners might require a revision of the opinion, and nobody can hear everything and hold a valid subjective comparison. It's a home invasion...

Why does my TV sound more real?

DAC chips in tv's aren't all that shabby these days, if that is what the TV music is going through, or the digital signal going to an AV receiver. There was a discussion somewhere about Spotify and how much dynamic range compression as well as bit compression they used for their bandwidth. It...

So what were the impressions of the first listening panel with the Clarysis, or did they have to sign an NDA?

    David Karmeli’s Bionor/Lamm/AS-2000 Audio System

The parrot has whistled into the great beyond. He was an old bird when we got him. Still, I was wondering if he would outlive us. Our old, wild gray parrot, age unkown, is still with us 40 years later. She is blind in one eye and arthritic, but still ticking, still wild with attitude. I...

    David Karmeli’s Bionor/Lamm/AS-2000 Audio System

Using planars, one tends to become over sensitized to the reverberations of the boxes and horns. I could even hear it on the big Wilsons as an extraneous contribution when first hearing them. After a bit of accommodation from the hearing apparatus, this tends to melt into the Haas effect as...

Bob's New Listening Room and System

I'm guessing you'll like it. A different thing for sure. It would probably be good for most audiophiles to listen for a while to some kind of effective 45 based system as a mental reference if nothing else. It would probably influence their judgement by comparison, not the least of which...

Does the whole plasma unit need to be replaced, or just a component? Do they have to be removed and shipped, or is it user friendly? Great tweeter with massless implementation.

    Japanese Pressings

I have a couple of Japanese JVC pressings that are generally amongst the best vinyl sound wise and production wise that I have. Others, like some Kitaro pressings, can sound digital and unremarkable. Can one really generalize?

LOL! More kevlar for the flak jacket! Had to figure there would be the inevitable incomings. Probably curled up in a ball in the corner for an hour or two before publishing.

You use similar crossover points to mine (@ 70 hz and 300Hz) Does the Scaena have a passive crossover for the midrange and tweeters? I think the videos sound quite good through my headphones.
