iFi Audio LAN iSilencer - The Official Thread

Purchased the Ifi LAN iSilencer after multiple positive reviews on diverse audiophile forums. Installed it between my router and first network switch. This device really works! Expanded soundstage, better imaging, less mid/high frequency harshness and increase in bass resolution. Sounded great...

Installed the latest SV03.00.29 firmware. Still stuttering using DSD512 modulators.

    Denafrips Arce Streamer Review

Denafrips has released a new Arce firmware (SV03.00.25) on October 29. HQPlayer DSD 256 modulator is now functional. However, there is still an issue with HQPlayer DSD512 modulator, which generates static noise. Apparently Denafrips is aware of the issue and will provide a firmware solution to...

    Denafrips Arce Streamer Review

Still waiting for a new firmware to solve stuttering issues using HQPlayer in DSD mode. This issue was to be resolved by Denafrips by end of October. Contacted Alvin last week on this subject and never received any reply to my e-mail. I am very happy with the audio quality of the Arce streamer...

    Denafrips Arce Streamer Review

Contacted Alvin last week regarding remaining stuttering issue. Denafrips should come up with another firmware version fixing remaining issues by the end of October. In the meantime, I’ve replaced stock power cord with my DYI Duelund AC power cord and replaced stock fuses with SR Purple fuses...

    Denafrips Arce Streamer Review

Have you received Arce new firmware version SV03.00.20 which was released on September 22. It solves some, but not all of the stuttering issues. The USB/I2S button is now functional, so you can toggle USB and I2S outputs. I have contacted Alvin to understand what is the Denafrips action plan to...

    Denafrips Arce Streamer Review

While I totally understand your frustration with your new purchase, I think that we have to be patient with Denafrips to resolve these issues. I have encountered the same stuttering issues with the Arce unit and Alvin has confirmed that Denafrips would have a new firmware possibly this week...

    Denafrips Arce Streamer Review

The Lumin U2 looks very interesting with its optical network connection, linear power supply and direct coupled USB to DAC connection. However, once you add a SBooster to a Lumin U2 Mini, I wonder if there is much difference between the U2 and U2 Mini? The SBooster only add $400 USD to the cost...

    Denafrips Arce Streamer Review

Last year I purchased a Lumin U2 mini streamer which was a nice improvement over my Sonore OpticalRendu. It had better resolution which increased musical tactibility. Added a SBooster MKII linear PS which kicked up the sound quality by a notch especially in bass extension/resolution. The only...

Terminator Plus FPGA firmware upgrade review

NZS, same thinking here. The tonality of the Terminator Plus remains the same after the firmware upgrade. No listening fatigue here.

Terminator Plus FPGA firmware upgrade review

I’ve just completed the FPGA firmware upgrade on my Terminator Plus DAC. The provided instructions by Denafrips are detailed and if followed correctly, the upgrade should occur without any problem. The only caveat I encountered was the last step of the upgrade, where Denafrips indicates the...

Adding a pre amp to a fairly resolving system

Totally agree with your comment. I own a Benchmark LA-4 line amp which I inserted between a Benchmark DAC3- HGC and my Classe Audio CAM-600 monoblocks. The soundstage/imaging increased in volume and quality. Eventually replaced the Benchmark DAC with a Denafrips Terminator Plus. I am in heaven…

    DDC or Server upgrade/DDC benefits

I own the Denafrips Terminator Plus DAC. I installed the Hermes DDC about a month after the purchase of my DAC and no regrets. I am using the I2S HDMI connection. The sound is cleaner with an improvement in soundstage and imaging. It does not change the overall tonality/quality of the DAC.

    LHY SW-8 Audiophile switch

The ER was on my watchlist, since it had multiple positive reviews. Unfortunately, when I tried to order it, there was no more stock and a vey long wait time caused by the COVID pandemic.

    OpticalModule/OpticalRendu VS Audiophile grade switch

Thank you TRHH. I already viewed this video. Alvin rarely comments on the subjective qualities of the gear he sells, leaving it to the potential client to comment, since he does not want to be in conflict of interest. I have purchased a few pieces of audio gear from Vinshine Audio/Beatechnik...

    OpticalModule/OpticalRendu VS Audiophile grade switch

Finally answered my own question with my recent purchase of the LHY Audio SW-8 audiophile-grade switch. The unit is built like a tank, using a CNC built chassis, linear PS and OCXO clock. The price is very reasonable at $600 USD when compared to other renowned switch manufacturers. Most of other...

    LHY SW-8 Audiophile switch

Just received my LHY Audio SW-8 audiophile-grade switch. The switch is built like a tank with a linear PS + OCXO clock. Right out of the box and within a minute of listening to music, I knew I had a winner. The switch brings the focus back into the music. Very like adjusting the focus on a...

    The Music or the Gear?

Music foremost, but at the same time, I need to have decent gear, to fully represent the artist’s musical intent. In the 80’s, when CD’s were introduced, I thought that I would stick to my vinyls. Nope, had to get the latest music from my favorite artists. I could live with my current gear...

    OpticalModule/OpticalRendu VS Audiophile grade switch

Thank you Blackmorec for your reply. I have done additional research on jitter causes. It is quite a complex subject, since there are different types of jitter (recording and playback). There is basically nothing we can do to diminish recording jitter since it is an intrinsic part of the...

I have purchased the T+ and extremely happy with it. Did not want to have any remorses for not purchasing the top of the line DAC from Denafrips. A few weeks later, I purchased the Hermes DDC, which brings the T+ to another level. No technical reasons to go with the Gaia DDC for me, since the...

    OpticalModule/OpticalRendu VS Audiophile grade switch

I need some advice from OpticalModule/OpticalRendu combo owners. I’ve been reading a few postings from WBF users who have purchased audiophile grade switches (English Electric, Ediscreation, Etherregen, SoTM, etc.). The majority of these users basically replaced a generic network switch by an...

Just updated the USB MCU firmware v3.12 on my Hermes DDC and my T+ DAC never sounded so great. The Vinshine Audio e-mail indicates that there will be some technical improvements, bug fixes as well as improved sound. There is added clarity and darker background IMHO.

My Canare coaxial cable is different from yours. I purchased the Canare LV-61S cable with matched Neutrik BCP-B31F 75 ohm BNC connectors. I took the time to closely look at your Canare L-3CFW cable which uses the Canare BCP-B31F 75 ohm BNC connector. The main difference between those cables is...

I followed the I2S Youtube video instructions from Vinshine Audio which explains I2S configuration between a Pontus DAC and Hermes DDC. PrTv, got my Hermes today. Unfortunately, I will not ne in position to comment on the coaxial/BNC cables, since I have a flow control network issue involving a piece of equipment that needs to be swaped. It will take a few weeks before I can comment back.

PrTv, I feel for you. I have the same setup as you do. I should receive my Hermes DDC today, to be connected to my T+ DAC.
