The amps are plugged into the wall thru a 20 amp outlet.
In general, most feel the 2500 doesn’t have enough power to allow amps to maximize dynamics.
My server, disc player, DAC and TV are powered by the Stromtank.
I use the Stromtank S2500 quantum for all my gear except the amplifier.
Very pleased with the improvement.
i also find I can listen at slightly lower volumes.
Joe,
Great question. I've also been following this thread but feel intimidated by the DIY complexity of Taiko. Is it viable at this time for a "plug and play" solution?
I have a Stromtank S2500 on order and will connect my MSB Select DAC, ethernet switch and SACD player to that. Will report back to the group. Have received mixed messages about connecting the D'Ag M400 mxv monoblock amps to the Stromtank vs the wall. I'm inclined to use the wall outlet, and may...
In my living room, my audio gear (everything but my speakers) is in a cabinet which is directly in front of a glass pane window. I’m considering applying a sun filter to address any harmful effects from the sun.
Do I need to block UV light, heat, or both? Any help is appreciated thanks
Sorry for any confusion
my question is: Can I use a 1m interconnect from one monoblock amplifier to the pre, and a 1.5 m IC from the other amp to the pre?
Presently, I have a 1m Masterbuilt IC running from my stereo amplifier to my MSB Select DAC/pre.
I'm upgrading the amp to D'Ag M400 MxV monoblocks.
Question:
Can I retain the 1m IC to one of the new amps and add a 1.5 m length which I'd need from the other amp to the DAC/pre?
I know that...
I primarily listen to local files on hard drives via computer audio. For the most part, I love the convenience and access to hi-res downloads.
But, some component of the chain (MacMini, Roon, Linn Klimax) has gone awry often enough that it's been great to have a transport to play discs as a...
Burmester owner here:
Tho I've not heard the 909, I've seen a number of Burmester experts in audio forums contend that 911 monos sounded better than a single 909. Enjoy the journey!
Hello,
My living room is 19 x 24 feet x 15 feet high. I'm very much enjoying my present system, and am considering adding a 2nd 911 into the system. My gear is all inside a cabinet, so there are space limitations. If I added a 2nd 911, there would only be 1-2 inches of space above each amp. Does...
My present interconnects consist of 2-3K retail Synergistic Research cables and Isotek power cords (approx 1-3K each). For the Transparent demo, I heard the Ref XL speaker cables + Ref XL interconnects to the pre-amp and amp. For the AQ demo, I heard the Firebird speaker cables + 2 power cables...
Peter,
The Transparent cables were calibrated to my system.
The Transparent Ref XL is 17.4K/10 ft
The AQ Firebird is 17.5K/10 ft
MB Ultra=25K/10 feet
I presently own Synergistic Research CTS speaker cables.
Ron,
I'd say the Transparent cables provided a minor improvement heard when I added them in and when I transitioned back to my regular cables, whereas many tracks provided an "Oh my" moment with the MB cables. The MB cables revealed clearer highs and improved bass. On some albums, I had to turn...
Count me in as a convert and fan of the MasterBuilt cables. I recently auditioned the following speaker cables in my system:
Audioquest Firebird
Transparent Ref XL
MB Ultra speaker cables + power cord to the amp
The MB Ultras were clearly a step ahead of the others. I'd describe the music as so...
I had the MXR's (before the 20 upgrade). They were in a cabinet with open doors, and got very hot to the point where they were shutting down with use.Just a consideration.
I upgraded from Alexia v1 to the Alexx a few months ago. Despite break in and professional alignment of drivers and positioning, I'm not really satisfied with the sound.
In particular:
A- The bass is very subdued compared to the Alexias. Its there, but its very much in the background.
Even...
I have the Linn Klimax DSM 3 and love it. I found it to sound demonstrably better than the DCS Scarlatti in a home demo.
Easy to use with lots of flexibility in setup.
Sounds great with my Wilsons
The Alexx is about 6 inches deeper than the Alexia. I was hoping for a depth footprint like the Maxx 3. Any thoughts as to the suitability of having this speaker closer to the wall behind it compared to the Alexia? I have limited depth in my living room. Height is not a problem.
I auditioned the D'ag stereo amp with my Alexias, and went with stereo Burmester 911Mk3 instead. There was a huge gap in weight and oomph between the two. Hope that helps.
