Make way, the big boy is here.

IME I would put the Gryphon sound a few clicks toward the warmer side of neutral. Great amps for sure.

    Are Transports Obsolete?

The problem is - those with huge collections of LPs, CDs and tapes are very much in the minority compared to those without, and the younger gen who (mostly) could care less about media, everything is streamed.

    Supersense Mastercut Edition Lacquers

My takeaway is: - Fremer: A hypocrite, for example at ~13 min states, "I buy a lot of records" in defense of comments that he gets records for free. Then at ~1:23 he states, "you know what, you do this for 30 years and you know what happens, you end up with thousands of free LPs. LOL.". There...

"Fast" and "slow" subwoofers: can we put them to bed?

WRT dipole bass stimulating the room more evenly, depends on placement. Also it can create physical pressure - irrespective of the driver enclosure, or lack thereof pressure is created or there is no sound. is it the same effect as a driver in a cabinet - no, but again it depends on sub...

Does "competes with much more expensive" actually exist?

Late to this thread, came across it looking for something tangentially related. Ron's quote caught my eye and made me smile (thanks Ron). Said a bit differently, "Broad generalizations virtually guarantee their inaccuracy" can be applied to so much in our world including politics, religion...

Congrats! With all that $ in that system it might make sense to have a remote control diffuser / absorber above the TV that drops down to block the 80" TV for listening. out of sight and in place when needed.

Does the Audiophile Community Have a Problem?

I mostly don't agree. I'm a member of a plethora of FB audio groups from vintage to DIY to Audiophiles without a Budget and they all have one thing in common - the pursuit of higher quality music reproduction. By far the majority of posts are respectful, many inquisitive, many informative and...

Another should I add vinyl thread

True, and there are even more so in digital. ;-)

Another should I add vinyl thread

Just an FYI - the digital is ~5.5K USD, the analog assuming a proportionally priced phono preamp at ~2K USD brings the analog to about 2x the digital cost.

Another should I add vinyl thread

Congrats! I'm glad you are happy. I would change your last sentence to say, "Warning: If you have a digital only system, don't visit friends that have a well set-up vinyl system. You're going to desire one and need a ton of $ to afford it!" :-)

"The MXO provides extremely transparent high/low pass filtering which relieves the main loudspeakers of the punishing low frequencies below 55Hz and sends extended low bass information to the powered subwoofers. This level of analog upper and lower range signal management improves transparency...

    When do you stop upgrading?

For me I see no reason to stop upgrading as long as I have the funds to do so and as long as it reaps sonic benefits (to my ever - aging ears) to allow me to hear deeper into the music. However, I will say that with my relatively recent upgrades including the Vivids and the Audionet amp + preamp...

Nice room. You could go with the Giya Spirit in that sized room but G1 and even G2 would work well.

DSD to Vinyl Versus Analog Tape to Vinyl

My friend, let me give you some advice - please tame your arrogance. That said, dry is virgin recording, pre - processed, wet is post - processing which is what I stated. How you define it with your production material edits is not industry standard. Watch the first minute of this video if...

DSD to Vinyl Versus Analog Tape to Vinyl

I don't think I'm wrong at all evidenced by your second sentence - "HQPlayer is not traditional remastering I grant you, it is “remastering lite” sort to speak." Also, how are you able to "keep dry signals", you need the original master before becoming wet signals to do so? Net is - while you...

DSD to Vinyl Versus Analog Tape to Vinyl

Understood, but it's not really re-mastering in the traditional sense. Re-Mastering involves manipulation of the individual tracks' levels, phase, panning and effects. You're taking a finished product and overlaying effects, DEQ, etc. Also, I use HQPlayer, an excellent player with filters...

DSD to Vinyl Versus Analog Tape to Vinyl

Carlos - your "remastering" can only be done after the finished and multi - track compiled source, correct? You don't have access to the original tracks (digital or analog) to truly re-master, correct? You're essentially flavoring the music post production unless I am mistaken.

DSD to Vinyl Versus Analog Tape to Vinyl

I've spent many hours in studios as an amateur musician watching and learning from engineers along with my mini home studio many decades back. And from what little I know / saw I concur that's there's a mastery to recording, mixing and mastering. However, this doesn't diminish the joy and...

On The Record: An Audio Professional’s Take on Vinyl

Here's what I continue to chuckle about in terms of digital vs. analog (vinyl) - We all here at WBF have heard stellar records on great vinyl playback sources and the same for digital, so we know the amazing sonic capabilities of the format and the equipment, so, unless you are opting for the...

DSD to Vinyl Versus Analog Tape to Vinyl

BLUNT ALERT: Sounds like where you have been is ignorant to the details and to the overall message. And as a result, you generalize / justify away with your last sentence. My 2 cents...

    Magico M9

Make it a 4 - way by adding a ~9" mid - bass driver on top (similar to the Q7), add the trickle-down goodness from the M9 and you have a ~$300K tweener.

Many people don't care what's the "correct room volume", some want it loud, real loud, some want it low, then there's the rest of us somewhere in the middle... To me it's about the direct relationship between how much the music moves me and increasing volume (within limits).

    Magico M9

Based on who's assessment? the bass player? keyboardist? Drummer? Guitars? recording engineer? mastering engineer? There is no optimal level, it's completely subjective. However, there is a direct correlation between listening with spirits and higher SPLs :-)
