Ahh I mis-remembered what speakers you have, Marty. Both models have X's and V's and my tiny brain didn't distinguish. Apologies.

I don't suppose anyone has photos of that room?

Only if Marty is the judge :)

Because 2ohm is just way too limiting. If M10s can't drive these speakers, my M1.1s probably won't. If my M1.1s can't drive them then my CATs can't either. In any case, it's a moot point as I'm pretty happy with my speakers these days.

    CH Precision 10 series

Wow. If I ever lusted after that speaker I don't any longer. I wonder what amps Wilson used in developing them.

    CH Precision 10 series

Jack, I assume you had M1.1s beforehand? While the M10s are obviously BETTER than the M1.1s, how would you describe the differences in the bass?

"So it is indeed difficult to marry that up with Marty's observations where he was entirely dependent on the M10 for bass." My understanding is that Marty was using Gotham subs....?

Is there a match between Magico Speakers ( particularly M6 ) and Tube Amps?.

I have MPros (very similar to M6) and easily drove them with CAT JL7 monos.

    My CH Precision/Magico System

    Correct.

    My CH Precision/Magico System

No, the cables Peter was referring to was a pair of Audience FrontRow XLR interconnects, between the phono and preamp that I recently decided to try. My default XLR interconnects (both sources and between preamp and amps) were made for me by a engineer friend of mine.

Lloyd, you are one of the people that influenced me, so I thank you for that.

    My CH Precision/Magico System

Hi Greg, thanks! You already know what I have just experienced. Thanks for sharing those pics! As for everything on its own shelf - I could not agree more! I plan to have 3 frame units (similar to you) with nothing stacked; I just wanted to proceed cautiously (and as budget allows). My...

Thanks, Al. Since you heard the improvement with the amp stands, you can imagine 'more of the same' result with the preamp now having the benefit of the HRS (as well as the turntable), but either way I look forward to having you visit soon! And yes, hopefully HRS will bring similar joy into...

    My CH Precision/Magico System

Thanks, I have two HRS damping plates to experiment with. :)

    My CH Precision/Magico System

Over the past 5 to 6 months I've been getting to know my new electronics and have done a lot of experimentation with power cords and speaker cables. I was fortunate enough to be able to demo AudioQuest's Dragon line (speaker cables and power cords) and I have to say I loved them. There are...

Congrats, Marty! Glad you didn't have to wait too long to get something else in and I hope this works out for you! Please let us know how break in goes.

Oh my, that's a lot of subs! Congrats!

Are you saying info can be veiled by having the volume just a shade too low or too high?

I considered the gold when I was ordering my L10 but then got some photos and changed my mind. I used to love black electronics but somehow that fell out of favor and I went silver. That said, the grey (which looks a lot darker than grey to me) is beautiful.

    People who have tried it.

    CH Precision 10 series

I haven't tried it because it's well documented that the sonics degrade. Fortunately I don't need it!

Sorry to be a tease. I visited Elliot today. What a treat! My first time meeting Elliot (although we've spoken on the phone a few times) and I loved his listening room. I can't judge any one component in a foreign system so cannot say how the M10 differs from my M1.1s. Elliot was employing...

Well isn’t that interesting! I think I will hear the M10 for myself in a couple days.

Marty, wonderful post. You have my full respect, as does Elliot. It seems that synergy is, unfortunately, crucial in audio. I have been where you are before, but did not have the benefit of dealing with a dealer such as Elliot. I want to thank you for documenting this journey. After the...

I can't speak to the differences between a stereo vs mono CH product. I just want to clarify that I've only heard (and own) the monos.

The bass control on the CAT JL7s is really, really good. Better than some solid state amps (e.g. Pass XA165.5). But when I got the CH M1.1s it was clearly superior in that regard.
