About to buy MA-1 monos- how long do the tubes last and how easy are replacements to source?

I believe once you get these Atma-Sphere OTLs settled in/sorted out you may well find the combo between them and your Maggies irresistible and inseparable. Ralph offers an excellent reference on his website for describing how to inspect the power tubes...

About to buy MA-1 monos- how long do the tubes last and how easy are replacements to source?

Sorry to hear that. So, they are going back to Ralph and company? Atma-Sphere products are pretty bulletproof you will find, so once they are right, they stay right. Most often, a tube is the only problem, if at all.

About to buy MA-1 monos- how long do the tubes last and how easy are replacements to source?

Congrats! Welcome to the MA-1 club! I’ve had my Silver Editions for over a decade and still enjoy them immensely. I will be curious to here your 6SN7 impressions as time goes forward.

    Denali S correct phase.

Contact Shunyata: (an email was sent out) Dear Shunyata Customers, We are excited to announce the long-anticipated upgrade program for the original Hydra Denali 6000/T. This upgrade converts existing Denali 6000/T units to version 2 and will include internal upgrades only (no external...

    SPACE: THE FINAL FRONTIER

Very late to this party… so many words (more eloquent and provoking then mine) :) For me to enjoy music or voice reproduction there has always had to be two things: Suspension of disbelief requires a realistic tonality and good sense of the venue it was performed in. I’ve been around far too...

Field Coil Speakers @ 16 Ohms for OTL

That’s cool, but a little concerning. Perhaps it was some aspect of kit setup and not the FC PS at all. John needs to provide an A/B imho. I’m obviously fascinated by the prospect as I have heard so many valve based PS in other applications that prove to be very reliable, noise free, and most of...

Field Coil Speakers @ 16 Ohms for OTL

Looking forward to seeing John Wolff and hearing a tube based Tungar alternative power supply. Hope I could audition a pair as his place is just a short drive from mine. The last we spoke it was still in the development stages. Wonder if Ralph from Atma-Sphere collaborated on this project or if...

What Cables Are You Using With Atma-Sphere Gear & Why?

My findings precisely. Ralph speaks with absolutely no hyperbole here. From the Atma-Sphere website: ’The MP-1 is fully differential and balanced because the Balanced Line system eliminates interconnect cable coloration, which is why the recording and broadcast industry has used it for the...

    Nordost - "Making the Connection"

Air dielectric for me is most often a very recognizable attribute with cabling, in that it sounds like absolutely nothing in the way. Other aspects of the cable may have some color or character but I believe this is where Nordost has it right throughout their product line. Just my 2¢

What Cables Are You Using With Atma-Sphere Gear & Why?

Between the MP-1 and MA-1 Silver Editions we run 25 feet of Mogami W2534 Neglex Quad microphone cable with the standard XLRs, bought at Guitar Center if I recall correctly. Sounds great

    New Sigma XC cable.

I understand the struggle when a piece of kit on first blush just doesn’t produce the juice but do you feel the cable had enough time to settle in, and that you got a decisive read on it?? Just not at all sure I could evaluate anything in my kit in only four days and really be sure of much.

    Field Coils for Audio Systems

Thank you Ralph for commenting. A pair of modest Venom V12 NR power cords from the mains to the DC power supplies did yielded a nice improvement from the AC side, so I was just curious if the DC end would also benefit from some particular wire solution.

    Field Coils for Audio Systems

A little side bar please, as this subject is a somewhat rare niche within a very small community. This is such a great conversation and with some who have far more DIY experience than I do, and with field coil implementation specifically. My consideration is whether we need to be concerned...

Field Coil Speakers @ 16 Ohms for OTL

Well, I will comment that our Classic Audio 16Ω FC T3.4’s that John Wolfe delivered last October are the first foray into magnet-less loudspeakers and we could not be happier. Not to go without mention, the hand rubbed rosewood cabinets are magnificent also. We run Atma-Sphere OTL amps in the...

DSD to Vinyl Versus Analog Tape to Vinyl

My take on all this is that it seems to be truly difficult, perhaps improbable to create any kind of real apples to apples comparison in sound reproduction given the huge degree of variables in the signal chain between capturing a given formats, and our reproduction. Though it is an interesting...

Denali V2 Vs Everest for small tube amp

Yeah Tinear1, I know what you mean when you express how emotional the experience takes hold of you. Quite remarkable, and quite rare how profound from a single move. I realize like anything in a perfectionist paradigm, it simply won’t work the same for everyone and a few may even dismiss our...

Measuring power line noise with the TriField EM100, and the impressive effect of Shyunyata products

Apologize, I was off on a road trip to Asheville. Love the Blue Ridge Mountains. I do, decidedly. So on the playback with the Denali v2 supporting the speaker field-coil power supplies and the power amps, the v2 seems to offer for me a much more convincing rendition of a performance, almost any...

Denali V2 Vs Everest for small tube amp

I have been running rather large tube amps, OTLs (140w 8Ω (mine are feeding a 16Ω load)) with a Denali v2. They also share it with field-coil 18vDC 5A power supplies. As has been expressed by quite a few with differing situations, my overall sound quality presented by the amps connected to the...

Measuring power line noise with the TriField EM100, and the impressive effect of Shyunyata products

I have heard Shunyata is working on a replacement(?) piece for the utility that the 2000t provided, but of course with the latest Denali tech. This was after I had already purchased the second Denali v2. No regrets as I need four, maybe six outlets on the front end anyway. Though it will be...

Measuring power line noise with the TriField EM100, and the impressive effect of Shyunyata products

Ack, your TRIFIELD findings are quite interesting and somewhat match to my ears much of what goes on with Shunyata Denali v2s an the NR mains cabling. I don’t begin to understand it, but it sounds wonderful. As I added each cable the music presented more clearly and deliberate. As I added the...

WoW, a Glanz and Koetsu combo must be heavenly :) I would need to try quite a few more tonearms and carts before I could ever hope to speak authoritatively on the sound of the decks themselves. So I don’t know. What I can say is that the BB seems to has the biggest soundstage, is the quietest...
