    Sonus Faber Extrema

The Mephisto is darker sounding and doesn’t do much wrong but its weight is back breaking and the heat it produces is something else. The Trinity amps are supremely clean and transparent and match the Extremas perfectly.

    Sonus Faber Extrema

Yes, the above system is mine. I had practically changed all the components except the Extremas which I had owned for 27 years! I love the Extremas

    Sonus Faber Extrema

The Mephisto was eventually replaced by the Trinity mono amps which are an even better match. I’m sure Franco Serblin never had the opportunity to listen to the full potential of the Extremas.

Yes, it’s the stereo Mephisto which is a great match for the Extremas.

Roy Gregory: Preamps: VTL 7.5 Series III, ARC Ref 10 & CJ GAT Series 2

LL21, how do you connect your Gat to your Colosseum? Do you use an rca/xlr adapter or do you make a special rca to xlr cable? Thanks in advance.

CH Precision C1+X1 VS Audionec SDV4-S VS Burmester 111

At the time I listened to the Burmy, it still had quite a few bugs to be sorted out. It sounded very good though. Overall, I found the CH combo more satisfying. It has excellent built quality and it has great flexibility on the upgrade path if you go the CH way. The mono C1 (if your pocket is...

CH Precision C1+X1 VS Audionec SDV4-S VS Burmester 111

I haven't heard the audionec. I'd had the opportunity to listen to both the Burmy and the C1+X1. The addition of the X1 improves the C1 considerably. I finally ended up with the C1+X1. This combination will be hard to beat, I believe.

The preferred cables, Goebel, at the recent ultra high end Audioexotics show in Hong Kong.

Totally agree with you, Keith. Just wanted some opinions and thoughts from our experienced members here.

    Magico Q7

Great input, LL, and thanks. In RH's case, he heard the Arrakis2 before the Q7s and he pronounced the Q7s as the most impressive single piece of audio equipment in any category he has ever heard (in 23 years?). Is that correct?

    Magico Q7

I read with great interest about the reviews by both Robert Harley and Jeff Fritz on the Magico Q7 and the Rockport Arrakis. Judging by the dates of their reviews, it seems like both of them prefer the Q7. Also, the Arrakis they reviewed might not be the latest version. I wonder what their views...

    Robert Koda Takumi K15 Preamp

Is there a unit with your dealer? If so, please take a listen and your impression would be appreciated. I heard the K15 could be the ultimate preamp.

    Robert Koda Takumi K15 Preamp

Thanks, CK. I'm aware of the Audio Exotics forum but that is a commercial forum. Independent impressions from listeners that have no commercial interests would be much better.

    Avior

The system as posted by Jazzhead neither belongs to him nor Sujay. It belongs to someone in Malaysia. This will clear all confusion.

Trinity's claims vs. what actually happens in digital

I'm sure Trinity is a great DAC but I'm not sure if it is 3 notches better than the CH Precision C1. Was the comparison done with the C1 using Ethernet streaming? If it was and it was really 3 notches better, I'll seriously consider buying the Trinity DAC.

Trinity's claims vs. what actually happens in digital

I have been following the Audioexotics forum for a while and I found that there are a lot of flavours of the month equipment there. With this record, one has to very careful about what's being written there. Visit that forum and you'll know what I mean.

    CH Precision D1

You certainly have one of the very best combos out there, congrats. I had a long home trial with this combo and also found it hard to be beaten. At the same time, I also tried the C1's ethernet connection and found this to be even better. I finally settled on the C1 with the Ethernet input card...

I have listened to both the AF1 and the Thales tt (although in very different systems). I'll take the AF1 anytime.

Audio Note M10. Anybody heard this Preamp?

If money is no object, the M10 Signature must be the ultimate preamp. I haven't listened to it yet but have heard the M10 and it is unbelievably good but there are 2 problems...1) the high gain means potential matching problems. (2) there is no remote control.

In some countries, it can go up to 300%!!! The countries that do this are either very corrupt or they are trying to control the number of vehicles from the roads.

    Best luxury SUVs...

You guys are lucky that cars are so cheap in your part of the world. In most parts of Asia, expect to pay the following prices: Q5 from USD110k, Cayenne from USD180k, ML350 from usd180k, Touareg from USD135k!

    CH Precision D1

Alistair, As for the build quality, I must say it ranks among the very best, both internally and externally.

    CH Precision D1

I'm not sure I understood your question.
  28. E

    CH Precision D1

My dealer was kind enough to loan me both the D1 and the C1 and I must say that this combination is way better than the D1 playing alone. The D1 itself will kill most other CD/Sacd players out there but with the C1, the combination is hard to beat. The best from CH is, in my opinion, direct...

    DCS Vivaldi

I have heard the latest EMM Labs, the Orpheus Heritage, the dCs Vivaldi and the CH Precision recently and I thought they are they are the best DACs in the market currently. One probably can't go wrong with any of these. I chose the CH Precision C1.
