Tube preamp suggestions under $11K, new/used

Hello tima, I cut and pasted my response to your similar post on the other thread: "I do not have the L2.1 Ref, as I posted I have the LL2.1. The tube recommendations from the Lamm website for the LL2.1 are such: "What substitution tube types do you recommend for the LL2.1? 12AU7A: 12AU7...

    Lamm LL2.1 recommended replacement tubes

Hello tima, I do not have the L2.1 Ref, as I posted I have the LL2.1. The tube recommendations from the Lamm website for the LL2.1 are such: "What substitution tube types do you recommend for the LL2.1? 12AU7A: 12AU7, 12AU7WA, ECC82, E82CC, ECC802, 5814, 5814A, 5963...

Tube preamp suggestions under $11K, new/used

My room is not complete and just using my system in a temporary arrangement so hard to really tell... I believe there is a more natural sound but I should replace the tubes as they are an unknown right now, original owner wasn't sure when he last changed them. Had him ship directly to Lamm...

    Lamm LL2.1 recommended replacement tubes

I haven't changed the tubes yet in the Lamm LL2.1 preamp I recently acquired and since the previous owner wasn't sure about how old the tubes were I would like to replace them now. When I purchased the preamp I had the owner send it directly to the Lamm factory shop to have it tested and...

Glue from RTI paper/poly inner sleeve contaminating records

Yes, usually it leaves a wrinkle type pattern...many times the sleeve will 'stick' to the record and you will see the leached chemicals... many of the older plastic inner sleeves from the late 50's early 60's also left a residue.

Glue from RTI paper/poly inner sleeve contaminating records

There are other inner sleeve issues as well... remove all the heavy 'pink' hued plastic sleeves used on many audiophile issues.. as these also leach chemicals into the vinyl which cannot be removed.

Glue from RTI paper/poly inner sleeve contaminating records

I did much research on this issue. If the record is noisy from it, which is most, it goes in the trash, as there is no fix. The softener has become part of the vinyl...it actually is leached into the vinyl, not on the surface, and appears as a white stain. I have done tons of research on this...

    Low ceiling (8') treatment

Thank you... I have watched his youtube videos. With different seating and a little slouching, ear height should be between 35" to 38".

    Low ceiling (8') treatment

Yes, I waited all last year for the release of Danny of GR-Research, 'Line Force' as I was very interested... but hopefully by next year.

    Low ceiling (8') treatment

My room is 17.5"W x 22.5"L x 7.8'H I have expanded from 2 separate rooms to one large room. The walls/ceiling are still open. From what I understand, my low 8' ceiling is the biggest problem. From what I understand, the frequency issues I will have are from 160Hz and below. I was hoping to fill...

    Technics SP10 MK3 Restoration

Haven't mounted it to the original Technics plinth. I want to get a 2 - arm custom made plinth and will probably wait until then to set it up.

    Technics SP10 MK3 Restoration

That is just something weird with the lighting, interaction with the copper color on the platter...has the stock chrome? finish. Should have mentioned I'm in the US and I believe I already checked with Acoustand and they don't accommodate a 'naked' type plinth.

    Technics SP10 MK3 Restoration

Just got my SP10 MK3 base (motor unit & controller) back from JP at FidelisAnalog.com JP is one of the most knowledgeable on the SP10 MK3 and is the one who designed and manufactures the MN6042 Speed Control chip that keeps these and other Technics turntable models still operating. My SP10 MK3...

Suggestions in search for used LL2.1

As for the reason of my posting, are there any other avenues to search for used Lamm gear? Would checking with Lamm Dealers be helpful, or are there any other venues?

Suggestions in search for used LL2.1

Well... during that time frame I sold my Zesto preamp... since I now had the LL2.1 coming... so not at all... "in the past"... no preamp... Hopefully I can find a LL2.1 in good time.... after that I will start searching for a matching LP2.1 :)

Suggestions in search for used LL2.1

Yes, I posted the add here on WBF... the well known member answered the add, as I said the price was set for $3500. The reason for the 2 week time span was the seller was ordering a new shipping crate, when it shipped I was supposed to make the payment. The 'deal' was made in the first...

Suggestions in search for used LL2.1

I'm in the US and I have been searching for some time for a nice used LL2.1 preamp without luck, until about 2 weeks ago when a whatsbest member answered my LL2.1 add on this site. Thought my search was over, this person told me he wanted to move up to the LL1.1 Signature, he had already done...

    Tung-Sol KT170

Thank you for posting. From what I have heard about this tube in the amps it does work with it is impressive. Hopefully in the future it will be possible to have my V4s modified to use this tube.

    Tungsol KT 170 just landed

My Quicksilver V4 mono amps will use the KT170 no problem, transformer is already plenty large enough, I have plenty of space between the tubes to fit the KT170, but Mike Sanders of Quicksilver says he tried using the KT170 in his Mono 120 amp and that the KT170 was much noisier than the KT120...

    Tung-Sol KT170

I talked with Mike Sanders, Founder/owner of Quicksilver Audio about using these in my Quicksilver V4 mono amps, as they are the new model built around the KT150 tube. Mike said he had tried using the KT170 in his 'Mono 120' amps that use a pair of KT150 tubes, but did not like the results. Here...

Tube preamp suggestions under $11K, new/used

I have just upgraded my Zesto Andros 1.2 phonostage to the Andros Deluxe 2 and it will be burning in this weekend. Also, I want to upgrade my Zesto Leto 1.5 preamp. If I stayed with the Zesto line, the upgrade would be to the Leto Ultra II which retails for $11K. Ken Micallef wrote a very...

    Tungsol KT 170 just landed

I was very surprised when I read his reply... maybe the tubes don't work with my amp for some reason, maybe the low screen voltage on the output tubes (300 volts) is not high enough for the KT170?
