    floating speaker cables.....on the cheap

Wellfloat footers seem to be the top choice now among the Audio Exotics crowd for large speakers: https://audioexotics.vanillacommunity.com/discussion/13118/well-float-a-new-game-changer-on-mechanical-vibration-management Haven't tried any Wellfloat products.

    floating speaker cables.....on the cheap

I had been using the Shunyata lifters for years and then added some Audioquest Fog Lifters. After listening I ended up with a mix of the two. Not sure there's any other way but trial and error with cable lifters.

CH Precision L10 & M10 : My votes for the Best SS amps (for the past 5 yrs till 6-2021)

Don't know what the issue is with reviewers. Of course you listen with your own ears which, if you are a serious audiophile, you've educated over many years of listening. For me reviewers have always provided an invaluable service. First of all reviews provide exposure to many more...

CH Precision L10 & M10 : My votes for the Best SS amps (for the past 5 yrs till 6-2021)

Haven't heard SS "clean" that wasn't accompanied by SS "lean". But again, maybe the CH gear will surprise me at Capital Audiofest.

CH Precision L10 & M10 : My votes for the Best SS amps (for the past 5 yrs till 6-2021)

"What really impressed me are their Naturalness & Realness. They have more of everything than CH's previous amps and possibly ss amps of every other brands …. beauty, timbre, density, details/resolution, macro-dynamics and micro-dynamics, ambience and acoustic information ... etc." Without...

    Who’s up for a $2800 fuse?

Curious to see how the yellow compares with the new Synergistic Purple - they are about the same price.

Can you distinguish/describe any significant sonic differences between the Violet and Yellow QSA fuses based on your experience with them?

    FYI - Bache Audio's New Urban 001

https://bacheaudio.com/portfolios/urban-002/ A new augmented wide-bander from Bache using Eton woofers, rare Japanese made Fostex FT-96EX-2 super tweeter, and Tang Band wideband driver (designer Greg Belman says he hasn't found a better sounding 4" wideband driver). The Urban 001 which had the...

What is it about most audiophile cable designs that make cables sound like Tone Controls?

You are right - it is not going anywhere. I will take your crossing out of earlier comments as your answer, i.e., you would value neutral cables over cables that would make your system sound more like live acoustic music. I of course would go with the cables that moved the system closer to the...

What is it about most audiophile cable designs that make cables sound like Tone Controls?

Now you are effectively changing your post. The context in which I used "neutrality" was taken directly from your post, i.e., wire that doesn't add or subtract anything leaving the general character of a component fundamentally unchanged. Direct quote from your original post: "If a wire causes...

What is it about most audiophile cable designs that make cables sound like Tone Controls?

Nothing new or "different" about using live music as a reference. I (and every other audiophile I know) have been doing that since the first publication of "The Absolute Sound". Attending as many live performances as possible certainly helps keep the sound of real instruments and voices in...

List of Brands/Exhibitors for Capital Audiofest 2021- FYI:

Its a good show - manageable scale but still plenty of exhibitors, and there are a shitload of restaurants nearby. The one in the hotel is decent too. I attended every year pre-pandemic.

What is it about most audiophile cable designs that make cables sound like Tone Controls?

Great. Of course you can only know that a cable is adding and/or subtracting something relative to other cables. And its fine if you've found cables you like and stick with them. However if you have the continual improvement bug like me you have to seek out and listen to other cables, arrange...

What is it about most audiophile cable designs that make cables sound like Tone Controls?

Saying that "if you have to use cables to tune your components you bought the wrong components" is like saying that if you have to season the dish you are cooking with spices, you bought the wrong ingredients. First of all there are no perfect components - all have design trade-offs. Secondly...

What is it about most audiophile cable designs that make cables sound like Tone Controls?

Go deeper and understand what - why audiophiles use cables as tone controls or why different designs/brands/models of cables sound different?

What is it about most audiophile cable designs that make cables sound like Tone Controls?

Why stop with cables? Why not have one perfectly "neutral" amplifier, one source, and one speaker design? Then you wouldn't have to make any decisions or take any risks. Cables have never presented a problem for me (or anyone else in my circle of audiophile friends and club members), and I...

What is it about most audiophile cable designs that make cables sound like Tone Controls?

What's to understand? Given that different components sound different it is a blessing that cables can relatively easily be used to help achieve sytem synergy and balance. I wouldn't want it any other way. All an audiophile has to do is use his/her ears to find the cables that produce the...

    best cost no object, cables

Its fine if you've tried different cables and your stock Pass Labs cables sound best in your system. Its also fine if you don't experiment further with cables. Each of us decides when and for how long to "get off of the merry-go-round". That doesn't mean however that if you kept trying...

    best cost no object, cables

You've lost me. Are you suggesting that there is one best cost no object cable for all systems, and that there is some objective way to determine what that cable is? Are you further suggesting that posters who describe their experiences with/impressions of different cables in their systems are...

    best cost no object, cables

So what does that tell us? 13 years ago you tried MIT and Transparent cables and cut open the cable boxes - what did you learn from cutting them open? You subsequently made your own cables and didn't hear much improvement - what is the relevance of that to a thread that started off asking what...

    best cost no object, cables

One of the things I've noticed about these cable discussions is that posters frequently talk about "audiophile brands" they've tried without specifying the brand and model - something they wouldn't do when posting about an amp, player, turntable, etc. Posters claiming that cables don't matter...

    best cost no object, cables

Mind boggling to me that in 2021 there are people on a high end forum like this one debating the value of audiophile cables. Every upgrade in cables I've made (from lamp cord, where I started over 40 years ago) has improved the sound of my system, in some cases dramatically. Power cables have...
