Kron admitted to having a bad batch of tungsten wire which was meant for bulbs and hence pre- cut for planned obsolescence. That took a whole year 2019 out of my life. I personally lost circa 100k$ on that.
I just spent half day drooling over the new tube set - the power pentodes called Ei-KT90. They were made in Serbia and sold under Telefunken name. The local brand name was Ei. They are phenomenal. In my Horizon test they beat the GEC Marconi KT66's and match equal the Tung-Sol KT170 (which is...
These tubes were NOT of higher VALUE but higher price. Since then KR Audio folded their pentode program entirely. The tubes I offer now are of better sound quality . If the issue is about dropping the price by 200 euro that I pay less for them, I will happily do.
I will buy these mentioned best tubes if you can find me minimum 100 identical sets, measured and matched., Thats 700 tubes for the 100 units.
and even if we find NOS sets, there will always be a better set somewhere.
VAC has 150 k amps with stock russian tubes and nobody is complaining.
On CHEAP TUBES AGAIN
I am surprised on many occasions about the tube discussions, how much misunderstanding of the subject is out there "in the field". First of all, in case somebody didnt notice, there was Covid that shut down China TILL THIS WEEK and a War that cuts us off the world's biggest...
I had exactly the same worries but the first 30s of listening cured all that. But of course we keep gg and Pacific in the portfolio for that reason - to satisfy the people who love dht. Me may even improve them in the coming months with the digital advances from the Horizon
this short notice is to inform, that we decided the definite tube compliment for the horizon DAC for ALL CURRENTLY ENROLLED CUSTOMERS in the queue and it will be:
Input triode 6SN7BE-Psvane Blue Ball
Output driver JJ-KT88 (Slovak Republic)
Rectifier Emission Labs MESH 274B (Czech Republic)
Word engine is a funny name for what is normally referred to as DIGITAL PCB. It is a combination of signal receiver, dac chips, microcontroller with firmware, optoisolators, routing multiplexers, voltage regulators, rectifiers and filters. We have a golden rule of using the right engine for the...
ABOUT SWITCHING POPS:
Some of our customers shared with us their concern about a pop noise during song change. Let me please explain the technicalities of it.
In the not so distant past, we used to listen to a whole album - on CD or LP and we were less OCD. The advance of Roon and similar GUI...
I agree with you however this way we had much shorter PCB traces, less noise, cleaner layout and better PSU fluctuation rejection so in the end the sound quality prevailed over the esthetic "feelings" ;-)
