    Dutch & Dutch 8c Speakers

I think most music lovers would be surprised at the quality of your system without having a clue of the effort that went into getting things just right.

    Dutch & Dutch 8c Speakers

As you describe the process I am curious how it can be applied to different speakers in different rooms? mine are sealed pyramid similar to the watt puppies with 3x8'' woofers on each side. I know from experience with different side firing models this room has smoother and deeper bass with this...

Not happy with martin logan expression 11a

The 2000-2005 Tweeter days I was considering the VA beethovens and the sales person had a few returns of the ML's that were around 6' tall went for $7500 or so and she was offering me an open box pair for half price or the same as the beethovens. I wanted to like those speakers so much, I love a...

    Speaker upgrade

The persona 9h because of the built in active subs and ARC eq I think could be on the list. I know I mention the persona's about everywhere, but I think they need a lot of room to the sides or heavily treated first reflection spots to sound their best. Your room is huge and almost a shame to...

I recognize that room from the blade 2 AG pic. I was the guy that why you didn't just remove a couple bass traps and keep the 2's instead of bringing in the big blades:) Beautiful room, looks like avantgarde horns would be right at home. The speakers I'm using can touch 120 db but be waay to...

    Dutch & Dutch 8c Speakers

Congratulations on a great system. Reading your thread was a lot like my own experience once I decided to try dsp active speakers. I must admit tho' I'm a bit less exact in my placement, to be fair tho mine weigh nearly 250 lbs each and don't have near the user configurations yours do.

Do you share your system with other audiophiles?

As my neighborhood gets older and especially since 2009 a lot of my working class neighbors have moved as many do, further from the city where square feet are a bit cheaper and the town I live in seems popular to those of india decent. While my new neighbors share my love of sportbikes our...

Do you share your system with other audiophiles?

No old money here, not much new money either. I enjoy my stereo alone, my buddies think i'm nuts, can't understand how I can afford a system and really don't get the point of sitting in a chair for hours doing...nothing. I decided that at the 1/2 % interest banks are offering I was going to...

Speaker to better fit my room

Speaker to better fit my room

12x20? Is it a dedicated room that you can put the speakers along the long wall and treatments behind the listening chair? My dealer sets his listening room up like that with the speakers 1/2 way into the room with the seat against the wall thats well damped and the sound always captivates.

Do you share your system with other audiophiles?

I would welcome other audiophiles into my listening room. One I always get turned on to new music and I wan others to hear what I found.

ULTRA 55 Review - Michael Fremer of Stereophile Magazine

I don't think the world needs another $100,000 speaker, well not unless it comes with a kitchen, plumbing and a fold down mattress. I would be much more impressed with room friendly, attainable, full range speakers. If this speaker brings advancements to working class audiophiles that's something.

    Chronosonic XVX.

My first Wilson experience was at CES Chicago, the last one I believe and they were playing a single box solution that filled the room with music, amazing sound then and at the last couple axpona shows I saved the wilson rooms for last so I could hang around as long as I wanted. The only other...

The 12 Most Significant Loudspeakers of All Time

You guys can get serious, leave us music lovers in a trail of dust. I thought the 901 deserved mention for the attempt to room interaction effecting sound. The kef r107 was the only passive speaker that(compared to reflex) wasn't affected by my rooms bass null...something to be said for...

    Brick and Mortar Stores

If you look at the prices asked on AG it looks like the site is helping prop up used prices, in fact often dealers are offering more fair and reasonable prices on used gear that the original owners are.

    Brick and Mortar Stores

As to AG, The fees, paypal, shipping and insurance currently make ag very easy to compete with.I can often get products new locally than used if shipping is involved. The stores that held their margins (around here) are are the ones thar are gone while the shops that reward their customers by...

ULTRA 55 Review - Michael Fremer of Stereophile Magazine

Usually the speakers I prefer end up with measured rolled off treble. My point was more about how deceiving measurements can be when shopping from home

ULTRA 55 Review - Michael Fremer of Stereophile Magazine

the measurements are +/-10 db. I do notice the larger the bass peak around 100 hz the more reviewers tend to like them, if i'm interpreting correctly? There's those that would look at the room response and scratch these off the list.

My room was about 17' across and I think I settled on a 5-5' off left wall 8' apart and 3-5 off right wall with 3' from the lower port to the wall behind it. I don't know how much is the additional woofer, but the bass output was to that point the best (without holes)I had achieved in that room...

    Large speaker improvements

Aerial does make quality speakers on par with Usher and placement is a huge pain in the a s s when dialing in bass, so why get so defensive and start slamming a guy offering ideas? Eton makes a couple 11'' drivers, one pulp in the VA strauss and Mahler then the Kevlar unit Usher uses, they...

stehno!!!! So many demo's I fall in love with the speakers just to bring them home to say wtf. They don't need burn in when they're the same ones from the shop. I think overloading a room with subs is just a shortcut to proper placement, sure the family room has to be just so but if one has a...
