Does anyone have any idea what this is all about?
Seems to be a new analogue medium brought to you by Bob Dylan and NeoFidelity, a Korean technology company.
Let's see. Mike told us about the Wadax gear that floats his boat, Steve is having a Lampifest this weekend for the Horizon debut, and Emile came out with a revised OS for the Extreme that is getting raves. But the best news...is that I haven't spent any money in the New Year thus far!!
Can't...
There are many different tests and standards out there for evaluating the output of loudspeakers, but not all are adhered to by all manufacturers. Meyer Sound has introduced M-Noise, a new test signal that will promote standardized measurement of a loudspeaker system’s maximum linear output. A...
Finally got to see the long awaited Spielberg remake of West Side Story yesterday. It did not disappoint. Spielberg remained true to the original with a few artistic licenses that were very reasonable. The choreography was superb. I can't tell you how many times I had tears in my eyes...
Have you noticed there have been a lot of "50 year reflection" editorials about rock music recently?
A Long Time Since ‘Zeppelin IV’
Even now, half a century later, there’s still time to change the road you’re on.

This will be viewed as either interesting, heretical, or just laughable. I never thought I'd live long enough to see a sunburst colored turntable! Fad or new trend? I guess we'll just have to see if Wilson and Magico start offering a sunburst finish on their speakers.
The Feature documentary Summer of Soul is now available in the theaters and on Hulu. This film about 'the Black Woodstock" is spectacular and will surely earn it's director Questlove (Ahmir Thompson) an Oscar nomination for best director. Everything about this movie is superb, from the film...
I’m a big fan of jazz arrangers who did the charts for scores of famous singers and big bands. Names like Billy May, Gordon Jenkins, Marty Paich and Neal Hefti (who did about 50% of Count Basie’s charts) come to mind. The most famous of all was arguably Nelson Riddle. We will likely not see the...
4 months after ordering, the Alexx V speakers arrived in my home yesterday. My Alexandria S2's departed with some tears after arriving on October 2016 and providing countless hours of musical pleasure. I'm looking forward to the same joy from the new speakers .

Let's assume there's a point after you turn-on your system that everything "sings". Let's call that point "100%". How long does that take for your system? (We're not talking about break-in here, but the time for a fully broken in system to reach its peak after turn-on.) Even if you leave one or...
An Op-Ed appeared today in the WSJ called "Streaming for Audiophiles" with the subheading:
Spotify announced it would begin offering higher-resolution sound. But will you really be able to hear the difference, or care...
I'm at a complete loss for words. Chick Corea was not just a jazz legend who I have enjoyed countless times in concert, but was one of the musicians who contributed deeply to the foundation jazz sound track of my life. Too profound a loss to articulate for now. I know what I will be playing...
I'm a fan of the Great Performances Series on PBS. One of the best shows in this series that I have seen is the legendary performance of Maria Callas in a documentary detailing her 1964 comeback at London’s Royal Covent Garden Opera House in “Tosca”. Act two is widely considered to be the best...
Finally, a purely entertaining vocal performance. No audiophile stuff. No politics. Just fun.
Might be the best I've ever seen.

Usually, this forum is filled with movie reviews and Oscar chat this time of year. But this year is obviously different. Still, even though theaters are closed, there are many films being released for screening. Many are worth watching. This is one of them.
Ron Howard doesn't make bad movies...
Just fabulous and enjoyable. He's 93 and still playing well. One of the very best who ever played the trumpet.

Anybody have any direct experience with the highly acclaimed half-speed remastered DGG set (DGG 4798721) of the 9 Beethoven symphonies originally released in 1980 with the Vienna Philharmonic?

For quite some time, I've had difficulty playing DSD512 files in Roon through my Innuos ZENith Mk III and my Lampizator GG2. Nobody was quite able to pinpoint the reason why. It appeared that the problem was either in the firmware of the Innuous, the Lampizator, or the Linux driver (Amanero)...
Enough bickering. Let's remember that this is basically a music and audio thread. How's about some feel good stuff?
Here's one that moved me:
Now I don't know this guy as I never watched "The Office" but I have heard of his wife, Emily Blunt (who played Mary Poppins in the recent movie)...
Too bad I didn't see this article before she played at Carnegie last December. I probably would have gone. Looks like I'll have plenty of time at home over the next few weeks to explore her works.
