I think a missing element in all this is experience . We arent Naturally able to different between quality of systems, and authenticity to instrument timbre, it’s learnt over time
the brain has an amazing ability to interpret through less than stellar sound quality
i believe this also happens...
I agree PeterA it takes some guts to vid your room, and equipment and sound
if Ron gets nothing out of it, and others do, I am unclear why he even participates in this thread , is he just “having a go” as we say in Australia, because Ked, et al, enjoy it and do it a lot ?…. it seems a...
As I have already alluded to I do not listen on ‘generic” equipment ( not sure Ron, what that is?)
I have two rigs, a headphone rig with lh labs dac, and three driver headphones and a separates rig with a chord Dave, a digital buffer, a clock and bakoon amps connected to fat lady speakers, with...
I appreciate Ron might have a purist mentality , but there is the practical reality I at least have in an audiophile barren environment of listening to exotic or rare equipment
Ked, PeterA, and Tăng have shared a wealth of experiences with me, yes , on a reduced bandwidth but, I feel I have...
I think Peter A has created a standard with his vids which if followed over time show differences, are these accurate to the actual live presentation I don’t know
I listened to my own recent vids and actually find them with considerable qualitative similarities to my room
i have to confess...
I preferred the second is that A , but there was noise in the left channel panned way left as I heard it, but not in the AB track
the cello had much more detail and realism in the A version ( second) and piano seemed set back in soundstage as you would expect, in the AB first version they...
I am trying to understand what your trying to do here
you want to take AC and convert to DC to convert to AC to convert to DC
is there a few thoughts whether this is the best approach ?
Dear Peter Thank you for this music, I found the recording in Australia , and will order it
these are the reasons this thread still has legs, and appreciate your point about woodwind “woodiness” something I look for in reproduction
this thread has served to me as a guide and reinforced that I am...
That hurricane looks nasty 500,000 people without power, awful storm surges, I didn’t know Canada got hurricanes that far North ?
we get cyclones but nearly always in our Northern states or parts there of, they don’t so far go South !
Ron, I believe in a horn, the colder air is denser, and changes the impedance in the throat of horn, and is thus more efficient as there is less of an impedance mismatch between the driver and the horn throat air
The only bright spot possibly is a greater transparency in the industry of provenance
i note the recent article on the remixing of Revolver, where the mixing engineer was quite candid about a digital step involved in the remixing
personally I have never been a great fan of reissues , but...
these are just speculators as on any investment and not important to the salient issues
they purchased an item of apparent collector value based on exclusivity which in fact didn’t exist from alleged false claims
Ron seriously this is missing the whole point
no-one denies that some albums sound very good , I like digital , it can sound great
the point is they claims it was one step rather than multistep, and exclusive rather than multicopy which is what made mass copies of thriller expose the...
I blame David really, and PeterA
lets start a trash talk thread on Lamm , so I can afford them ;), luckily I got a m1.2 from a guy who didn’t know what he had , but took a while to find a synergistic speaker …
the Lamm ‘ASR ‘ you don’t Measure well ‘trash talk ‘ thread …because measurements...
As I suspected Ked was onto to me about this purchase as soon as I revealed , not sure he will take my opinions seriously anymore ;) lol
still have my horns, Esl57 and Fatladies, which are in the bedroom system as use to watch music videos
Morning Peter
not meaning to derail your thread, just sympatico with Lamm “natural sound” which I would call timbrally quite good at illusion of real instruments this is the same basis as you, extensive experience of real instruments imho
I was watching your videos last night, and had a query...
