Amazing to know:) :) I wonder how this will compare with the new version of roon in a few days
I thought it was funny with people asking how the "NEW ROON" would compare with XDMS. I'm not knocking Roon it's an amazing interface, BUT the NEW ROON is the OLD ROON regarding sonics (I think/not confirmed). The BIG ANNOUNCEMENT was all about Roon now offering a mobile app, which is cool, but imho the gap will grow even wider now between XDMS and Roon from a sonic perspective.

I am very happy knowing that the Extreme can run Roon, but the Extreme is not dependent on Roon for it's sonic future.

I also could be wrong about the BIG ANNOUNCEMENT, I just glanced over it, but it seems to be all about the mobile app vs improved sonics.

To all eager XDMS Alpha testers, the two step process to get the iPad app is proving to be torturous

we are therefore transferring the next App version 32 to a new Taiko Audio Developer account with Apple but it takes a couple of days

Appreciate your patience
Ed, appreciate the update regarding issues with the IPad and XDMS, we'll be patient. I was not aware.

totally agree Bob. However just for arguments sake it’s almost a double entendres to say that the ”gap” will widen between XDMS and Roon. That word gap is a pesky 3 letter word.
FWIW I wish I could sell my lifelong membership to Roon o_O

My observation and maybe it's not accurate, but Roon, with this major announcement centered around the mobile app illustrates that Roon's attention is focused on the masses and not the high end arena. If that happens to be true, then as XDMS matures it will pull further and further away from Roon regarding sonics.

Thank You for sharing! Do you control the Nvidia shield pro with some factory IR remote? If yes, I can turn off the wifi we use for our Ipads!

I use the Nvidia shield app on my phone. In the app, set the remote to "trackpad", but that still requires wifi for the phone.

Another option is to find a bluetooth remote with trackpad capability and pair that with your shield.

So, can one still get in the queue to try the Alpha XDMS? I've sent an email to Support about this, but not heard a thing back. I'm hoping to stop salivating reading the reactions of those already trying it....

I think there are quite a few of us in the queue (including me) and we need to TRY to be patient (easier said than done!)…I suspect the priority must be working on the changes to progress XDMS Alpha > Beta and therefore a slower rollout of Alpa…hopefully with Ed’s earlier email about changing the rollout approach things will speed up soon :)

I try to avoid iTunes at all costs. My method is to use the program dBpoweramp to rip the CD, verify and edit the metadata with Yate, and then import into the Extreme.

Slowly but surely existing Alpha Testers will be receiving a TestFlight invite from Taiko Audio

accept the invite and you should see this. It is the same v31 App pushed on Friday, so no need to install

During the course of today all those who have already asked to be Alpha Testers will receive this invite as well and they should install XDMS Alpha and email support@taikoaudio with a screenshot of the installed App together with your DAC model and if yiu have had TAS installed before

Those who are thinking about being a Alpha Tester, please hold off, and have a smoother experience later

After reading posts about longer tracks just stopping mid-track using the Taiko app I can report my Extreme, using Roon, exhibits the same behavior. In my case somewhere longer than 5min tracks. Also it doesn't appear to be related the file resolution.
Any ideas on how to resolve this?

Do you use any DSP functionality in Roon, anything processor-intensive?

i often play tracks that are 20-30 minutes long and have never had a problem with either qobuz or local files.

I never encountered this issue either, neither with the Extreme running Roon nor any other Roon-server, but I usually only play 44/16 and I'd wager that the tracks are usually under 5 minutes.

The TestFlight invite from Taiko Audio to Extreme Owners who have indicated there wish to try out the Alpha is pending Apple's review of the App

Apologies for this delay, hopefully Apple's backlog is not long

just curious, does testflight only update the tablet app or does it also update the windows-based Extreme server?
or will the app have the capability of upgrading the server in the future?
