I believe there is a pair being made currently. ;)
You can still find these in Germany if you now who. My crazy french friend just installed a pair and he said he is at the end of the road now. He described the sound very similar to what you and Peter described eventhough he doesnot has subs like ddk's. It is just unlike others.

One day your crazy french friend can say his crazy thai friend has something similar!

I nominate the Tune Audio Avaton, ideally driven with Trafomatic Elysium amplifiers.

When I heard this system I texted Kedar to come over ASAP.

Herb Reichert of Stereophile: “I was listening with David Chesky, to a recording made by David Chesky, of a piano played by David Chesky; and we were both looking at each other, shaking our heads. When it was over, we both agreed, this was the closest any loudspeaker ever got to reproducing the density and presence of a real piano. I left the room in tears from the experience.”

Those eimac tubed trafomatic amps are responsible too they also sounded special on the Anima in 2016

I am not sure this had been sold or not.

This reminds of how violin sometimes sounded on my AG Duo Mezzo's. It sounds very colored as if the sound is passing through a plastic horn (which it is).
To imply that the speakers are to blame for a lousy set-up / recording is rather stupid

I'm not criticising the music in these videos but I wish we could hear some robust classical. Maybe a nice Tchaikovsky 4th ...something challenging.

Which JBL subs do you have? ML2 are not that easy to find nowadays though they show up occasionally. I suspect as @ddk suggested that lurkers are reading certain threads such as Peters and Utah trips, and building systems.

Interesting. What amp was it powered by when in passive with active bass mode? Which sound did you prefer - its built-in amps (fully active) or with the external amp?

I guess the latter configuration would sound very similar to the earlier Trio XD as this requires an external amp for its mid and top, although I presume work has been done to further improve the drive units and XO with the latest version. Thanks

PS - What sort of price was quoted for the new Trio?
Hi there,
I do not want to state wrong things so… this is what I know for certain. Passive set-up: Pre-amp and mono blocks by AVM /// CD : Audionote transport ( I think cdt 5) and dac ( I think dac 5 special). Active set-up via Aurender (top model nsa 30?). Exact prices I do not know (up there in any case). About what I preferred. This is hard. It is impossible to state in absolutes: it is not only about passive / active but also about cd playback / streaming. I think I am old fashioned but I prefer CD playback over streaming (more “real”). But here the streaming was awesome as well (maybe it is better to use “different” instead of “better”). In the end this was the highlight of my audiophile life (so far). I feel blessed for the opportunity to have been able to hear this. Off topic here, I heard I am getting my new Furutech project V1s next week :D. Life can be swell:).

Have you received the Eurodyn at home now, Tang?

Tim, you mean the ones who are simply quietly reading and not confused or angered by the title “Natural Sound“. Perhaps they even listen to the videos.

Sounds nice , nice with vocals
Plenty of adjustable bass .

Well, sure, lousy set-ups and recordings influence the sound. How are you supposed to winnow all that out from a YouTube video? Post a sign under the turntable: "Warning lousy set up and recording will produce colored violin sound"?

I lived with AG speakers for years -- I know that sound and I think I detected it in the video.

The only thing I know is that I don't like the artificial violin sound. I cannot judge if the problem is the speaker itself or the video recording of it, but then, unlike you I don't have experience with AG speakers.

Hi Wil,
If you don't mind, why did you move away from the AGs? Anything you miss about them? Or wish for a higher-priced model?
Thanks
