Congratulations again, I love this table. Too young to have one when they were originally produced and far too poor then as a student. Not smart enough to grab one in the late '90's when I had the chance.
I love your table and the big Melco from Japan. Two of the most desirable Japanese tables IMO.

Since I used Micro Seiki 5000 and 8000 I am a big fan of the old "Best in Class" Japanese turntables.
Since a couple of days I am enjoying the

piece of art.
As a DD drive has potentially some EMV effect not every cartridge is a matching pair, but with a well chosen cart, the L07-D can beat many of the so called " reference " turntables of todays production.
Fortunately not yet on the price level of some other analog products of this time.

Let me put it this way. When I set it up and dropped the needle on Johnny Cash's Spiritual from his unchained lp the hair literally stood up on my arm.
Also the VPI arm is poorly built. When I adjust the VTA there is a hitch for a lack of better word that makes the arm jump. Not good for the stylus. If I could remove the arm i would.

Currenty I am looking for Mu Metal sheets to try the difference.
When mu-metal is bent, deformed or machined, the high permeability breaks down drastically. Therefore, mu-metal should definitely be annealed again after mechanical stress in order to restore the high permeability by healing lattice defects.
Use thin tinplate, it works very well as a shield against magnetic fields.

loki, that has not been my experience with the HW40s at the VPI House, where I’d often gone (pre-pandemic). I used the 40s there often and done VTA adjustments without ever having something like that happen. I’m guessing, but thinking there is a problem with your VTA tower, which I agree should not be happening for something in this price range.
