Is there some late breaking news saying that the vaccine stops transmission? All the articles I’m seeing from around mid Dec are saying nobody knows, including the following headline...

“Pfizer chairman: We're not sure if someone can transmit virus after vaccination”

Folsom my father always said, "stay ln the game." "Because as long as you are in the game you can still win."
I assume your reference to the motorcycle was either a metaphor or an analogy. I have little interest in in zero sum games. For me not taking the vaccine presents no upside for me. When you think about it (vaccine) is an immune system stimulus. That makes at least a quasi wholistic medicine.
I would not mind if one day we had a couple of beers and talked philosophy. I could learn something.
I sure hope the opportunity for good times is sooner than later. Audio tends to bring people together, perhaps we'll get the chance.

The understanding of this vaccine is constantly an evolving target but so far I think the following statements are generally true for any vaccine;

1. Vaccination is a population disease control measure and not a personal one. If we want to resume normal lives it is imperative that as many people get vaccinated as possible.
2. Vaccines do not 100% prevent infection nor do they 100% prevent transmission but any disease manifestation is a product of dose and susceptibility. In this respect, as vaccines prime your immune system to fight off the disease more quickly and reduce the clinical symptoms, it is highly likely that the vaccine will reduce the transmissibility of the virus to others simply because you will recover quicker and your infectious period will be reduced. If this happens to all those who are vaccinated this will have a cumulative effect on the population spread and the R ratio.
3. No vaccine is guaranteed to be uptaken by the individual. That is why we need as many to be vaccinated as possible. If we all wait for the next guy to do it and protect us, it will never work and you might as well accept your current lifestyle for a whiles to come.
4. Does being vaccinated mean you can do away with social distancing and masks? Not yet because there are lots of different strains around and there is not much information on the efficacy of all the vaccines to all the strains but it is better than nothing. It's all about numbers and risk reduction, not guarantees.
5. I respect personal decisions about whether or not to protect yourself if the issue only affects you. Unfortunately infectious diseases affect us all and your decision will have an impact on those you meet.

@howiebrou. Ked told me to get this vaccine because the side effect would be enlarging my private part by 20%. I don't know if this is his personal experience.

My personal history has been that if I merely look at a sick person, I'll get a garden-variety, sniffles and sneezing type of cold. Oddly, I believe I've never had the flu in my entire life. (I've never had cold-type symptoms mixed with aches, pains, chills, headache, nausea or fever.) I've also never gotten a flu shot. I think I will never get a flu shot.

I assume I will take the vaccine for this virus at some point. I definitely am not eager to be first in line. I think I'd be content to take it 6 to 12 months from now -- after there is a slightly longer time series to uncover possible presently unknown side effects.

I have no problem getting this virus if it means I am mildly or moderately sick for a week or two. What disturbs and worries me are the reports of enduring or later-appearing neurological problems or heart problems or lung problems. Who wants to worry about possibly permanent medical issues from this thing?

I'm surprised Ked didn't go for the 50% enlargement version of the vaccine...I think it's called the Horn Edition

I already have a 5 way. This kind of vaccine is required for all those who use their audio system to make up for the lack of. Now you also why I am content not owning big speakers

No offense but it amazing that we are debating the seriousness of a disease that his spread like wildfire and killed approximately 300k Americans. A mind boggling testament to the disinformation campaign.o_O

The only people debating the seriousness of the disease are in the United States where there has been a sustained campaign to dismiss the threat of the virus. My assumption is that the 6 people that said no to taking the virus are all based in the USA.

Let us not forget with the help of Bill Gates(ill gotten)money some infectious diseases have been rendered extinct through vaccines.

Yup, over 350K today. The most outrageous thing I've heard from "friends" is what they heard on opinion news, that only those who died with no clear underlying symptoms are to be counted - all 6% of the official death count. And they compare that to the average annual vehicle accident count and claim it's half, so who cares. These are now ex friends of mine, because as you can probably imagine, they've said other things as well.

EDIT: one of them is an oncologist. What a total shame.

I never had a flu shot, and have never had the flu.

In the community where I live there have only been 1070 COVID-19 cases and 17 deaths to date (population -168K).

But since I'd like to travel this year, I will get the vaccine when it's available to me.

And here in Oregon, where you can count on governement f'ing up everything it touches, we rate 3rd from the bottom at vaccine roll-out. (https://oregoncatalyst.com/51030-oregon-nations-3rd-worst-vaccine-rollout.html)

Probably the same knuckleheads in charge who made the Oregon ObamaCare website. ($303 million spent, the damn site never worked.)
It is hard to accept that they are giving this process to hospitals which are already overwhelmed. No system like by first letter of last name, or birthdays or anything just a free for all.

What website? Nobody will be checking WBF to find out about Florida Covid appointments.
