When I listen in a shop CH first time around 2014/15 I had immediatly very good impression and will to try at home
When I listen many times Fm 265 or 266 with 711 and 811 from one friend and from previous distributor Audiograffiti,I liked but not a lot to bring home to try,I had Kondo before M7 and 2 Souga, and then checking the stupid price with near no discount,FM policy, I lost my small interest

Hello Heihei,
According to your comparison of the two preamps separately, it seems that the real star is the Heisenberg?

I would agree with that. The Heisenbergs are definately the stars of the team. You may need the Stern to drive them to full satisfaction. Especially balanced as the input impedance is unconventionally low. The Bespoke cannot drive them well for example though I do prefer its texturing. I am driving them direct right now using a pair of Totaldac D1 drivers which are considerably more transparant, dynamic and lively.

Hello Emile,
You have made me very eager to listen to the Totaldac D1-Driver, a pair of their xlr version!
Haha

You should, the dynamics trigger my corneal eye reflexes. The energy and drive are something else. It also has iron grip control on the bass. Don’t get me wrong, the Stern with the Heisenbergs are a satisfying total package, but replacing the Stern with a pair of D1 drivers is like discovering you were driving with the parking brake engaged.

Fascinating Gian60! You are always a great source of experience!

1. I have had one of the smaller FM monos in our system at home. What it did well, it did REALLY well...filigreed, truly natural highs, a sense of ease in placement, microdynamics and shading. It did not compare with my Gryphon Colosseum in the bass (nor did i expect it to even if the Wilson X1s are 95db efficient and quite a friendly load). And certainly not with the Gryphon Mephisto.

2. However, I am actually curious about CH which i almost brought home to audition (but did not once the Mephisto arrived). I somehow sense there are some similarities between FMA and CH in the highs, detail, and natural ease in the treble and perhaps mids. But that is only based on what i have read and heard off-the-record from a few who have heard both. What do you think? How do the two brands compare (even roughly) in your mind?

Would love to audition a D1-Twelve mkll + D1-Driver driving direct a CH M1.1 stereo, if the D1-Driver is that good.

I think the real star is the combination of Stern + Heisenberg, but yes I think much of the dynamics are coming from the power amp, while the pre is providing the sound-staging. Both seem to have very low noise floors, but then so does CH.

One thing the CH has is huge flexibility, both for pre and power. For some, this may just add complexity while for others could be a "must-have".

From the CH side, I have listened to L1 (both with and without X1), A1, M1.1, and C1. For me, the L1 is the star of the show, especially when you add the X1. If the M1.1 had been mind-blowing in my system (which it would need to be given the cost), I would have gone down the CH route. As it was, I was somewhat disappointed.

Wow just wow. The Pac with the 242 into the Stern and Heisenberg was just sounding amazing. Finally heard the Pacific sound brilliant absolutely brilliant, and transform the system. I don't have much time to write till the end of Jan but a big ejaculatory article coming up

Ked, Any issues with the Pacific being enclosed in a stand, heat-wise?

No as the stand is ventilated from the sides, back and front. Will take this discussion off the thread now, I replied to Heihei's post, but realize this thread started as Vitus / CH
