Curious what worked for you and what didn't work for you. Thanks!

Just using what came with the unit (Merging Horus). Tried Audioquest Dragon.... no change..... waste of $$$

Did you try any other brands Bruce?

I have no plans to retrofit Ethernet cable in my current apartment as it would be a messy job, and archiving my cd collection onto a NAS is a low priority. But if I were building a new house tommorow I would pre-wire the house with Wireworld Platinum Starlight Cat 8 which is pretty much the best.

I like Wireworld but I need a long run and not sure I want to invest that much.

Lee, another possible option might be the model down from Platinum, Starlight Cat 8 which is significantly cheaper @$750/10 meters on The Cable Co, and still uses much the same technology (incl: the same shielding) as the flagship model. Otherwise Furutech Lan-7 cable is well designed and constructed, and uses 24 AWG Silver plated ? (Alpha) OCC conductors, and can be ordered in custom lengths. Furutech cable always offers great bang for the buck. Here is a list of Furutech Dealers in the US fyi.

Blue Jeans, Cat 6- well-made and actually tested unlike others (I don't like their analog cables fyi)

the AQ stuff uses masking tape in the connectors - no thanks. i have Wireworld digital optical and coaxial cables, but have heard negative things about the company's build quality these days.

unlike USB, have real trouble spending $ on ethernet so i just settled on BJ

I just ordered Blue Jeans ethernet via their website based on yours and a couple of other recommendations.

Just bought some CAT 8 cables from the Swedish company called "Supra". Very inexpensive. Haven't hooked it up yet but I liked their top interconnects which Steve ran in his system for a few years before he got the MB's.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Supra-CAT-...h=item23b4bdc208:g:5UwAAOSwB4NW07FZ:rk:3:pf:0

My sense is that audiophile CAT 8 cables are probably over-priced. If anyone does an A/B of El Cheapos to the high priced spread, please let us know.

Supra is my favorite inexpensive Ethernet cable but connection to my DAC is not tight. Every time something moves, had to play around getting to work again. Finally had enough and bought AQ Diamond, a fantastic cable!

Nordost Heimdell 2 (Nordost top-of-line), Audioquest Vodka, and AQVox.

Nordost makes the biggest difference for me (more detail, at the right level level), priced the same as the AQVox, and AQVox makes my switch so I thought their cable would compliment the switch. Audioquest Vodka was just over half the cost, but still a good cable, and I use this for Apple TV.

I would be interested in Goebel, and Audioquest Diamond if I was shopping.

Jcat reference here as a LAN cable from the wall to the Aurender W20 .
For the ethernet cables in the walls I don’ t know precisely, probably CAT 5 regular cables, when the house was built computer audio did not exist;)

Highest performance I have heard is from AudioQuest Diamond. Bought 3M & 5M. Best value for my money is Supra CAT8. Bought 5M.

Hi David,

All the Ethernet cables in my network are Wireworld Platinum Starlight Cat 8 and I couldn’t be happier with the sound quality. But the Ethernet cable that by far has the greatest impact is the one that resides between my DJM GigaFoilv4 Ethernet Filter and my Select II DAC. If you’re going to break the bank on one Ethernet cable, that’s the spot!

Best,
Ken
