How many here are fans of this great soul crooner,who sang in The Drifters first in the fifties-Ruby Baby-Sadie My Lady...and helped carry them through the Sixties-Under The Boardwalk-I Got Sand In My Shoes-Saturday Night At The Movies-He's Just A Playboy...the Seventies-Like Sister And Brother-Kissin In Backrow...just a shout out to one of the best soulmen ever!

I don't know how old any of you folks are....but I grew up with this music.....The Drifters have a very interesting history.....as at one time in the south there were three groups claiming to be the Drifters....there was Bill Pinckney and the Drifters, there was The Original Drifters and simply The Drifters. Another iteration I forgot to mention was Clyde McPhatter and the Drifters. Of course, early on Ben E. King was the voice of the Drifters. Ben E. King went solo and had a number of hits....none bigger than "Stand By Me".
