Ked, I've heard good reports from Mr Sablon as well on the Quadratures.

No, any voyage into new waters is going to be via lower power triodes.

Yes enough zotl vs OTL discussions on forums. Easier to call OTL and carry on
If you don’t mind saying inaccurate things I guess...

It was always a debate, calling it a zotl vs OTL is irrelevant to me. Berning quadrature is the amp name. It is different from zh270, 230, atmasphere, Einstein, tenor, and the others are also different from each other. That's what matters. Same with Alieno. Call it OTL or hybrid OTL

Atmasphere, Einstein and Tenor ARE OTLs...

Will you will also call a SS pushpull an OTL? :)

The technical differences between OTL and ZOTL are so great that I find such generalization misleading and inadequate.

I am aware. I said they all sound different from each other and from the Berning so it doesn't really matter to me who is what I just class them (and Alieno) as OTL and focus on the sound differences.

ZOTL is only one. There is no other ZOTL apart from Berning and associated LTA to make it a classification. Same thing that went on with the long discussion on Alieno

No one knows what is the proper name to call Alieno - we were never given details enough to understand how it really works. Very different from Berning, where we have all the details.

Yes Bonzo, the chap w Bergmann, Berning and Bastani, yes?

I'm wary of just dropping in on people if I'm not a serious potential customer. I didn't like OTLs on the Zus, and they're not best suited to the horns I'm going to audition. And I really don't get on w Bastani.

There's an interesting lower cost parallel to the Bernings as well re LTA out of Washington.

Marc I am sure Peter would make you very welcome.
I heard his Bastanis a while back and of the systems I have heard it is the closest I can recall to your search for room filling sound.
Worth a listen

Barry, I really struggle w the Bastani tweeter. "Hot" doesn't quite describe it. Its not for me.

Thanks Marc but FWIW I have no recollection of a "Hot" tweeter sound when I heard Peter's Bastanis.
Ked has heard them too so it would be interesting to have his perspective

That does not seem like a balanced approach! LoL
Well they weigh pretty close to the same...so quasi-balanced I would say :)

Barry, we all hear very differently. I've heard an early iteration a few times at my tt designer's house, and the tweeter always drew my attention.

I'm going down a v different path potentially, possibly w much lower power triodes.

I didn't like the Einstein bastani system but liked the Berning audio machina one. I also compared the Berning and the Einstein pre in both systems and preferred the Berning

By most accounts, the early versions of Bastanis do not compare well with current iterations. Go on their website and try to hear something current.

That does seem a more likely explanation than "hearing differently" and which,of course, is distinct from different individual tastes.

Don’t get me wrong, I also was not a huge fan of the older models and have not heard the new ones but reports that have filtered back to me suggest the new ones are a large improvement.
