Am I alone in leaving my Pass Labs Amp on 24/7/365 (Except During Storms)?

I leave my 150.8s on all the time. The benefit is no waiting time for warm-up.

    Shun Mook MC Reference Cartridge

I am a big fan of Ebony. I have a Technics 1210 that I have put about 100 hours of work into. Part of that included an Ebony armboard and Ebony Stabiliser (made by Magna Audio) and an Ebony headshell. Musical Instruments are made from this stuff - think clarinet, oboe, black piano keys...

    Focal Speakers..Specifically the Sopra No.2

Since my post in July I can update. I have gone for the Magico A3s after a second audition. The A3s are vastly superior to the Sopras. But by way of caveat the Magicos are not ported so are also different in style. The distinguishing feature of the Magicos is good timbrel accuracy (within...

    Focal Speakers..Specifically the Sopra No.2

I have heard these. I can compare them to my Triangle Magellan Cellos. The short point is this: they are way better than the Cellos. Compared with Canton K3 they are similar, but I would say the Cantons are better. There is not much between them so if you prefer the looks of the Sopras that...

    The home of Anubis.

Cellos are the SW2, about 5 years old. If I could replace the drivers that were replaced that might be an idea. Could do a lot worse!

    The home of Anubis.

I have the Cellos. Very good for singer-songwriter material. Also very good regarding room placement (front firing port and horn loaded tweeter). The sweet spot is very large. Thinking about upgrading to the the new Magico A3s!

    New Jelco Tonearms

I also have the improved collar from Ammonite, together with a silver rewire, Ebony headshell and ebony armboard on TT1 I have found the Origin Live Conqueror on TT2 to be a major disappointment. Prefer the Jelco 750D to be honest. I have now sold the Origin Live and I will likely get a Jelco...

    New Jelco Tonearms

Thanks miniguy. That is an upgrade on the horizon. :)

    New Jelco Tonearms

Looking forward to it miniguy. I had a poor experience with an Origin Live Conqueror - this may be 'The One' :->

    New Jelco Tonearms

+1. @miniguy: what arm were you previously running?

    New Jelco Tonearms

This might be a decent upgrade - the 750D is already no slouch.

Tube or SS phono stage? Vote for your prefernce.

I voted SS because - as a generality - SS is quieter, especially if you can use an SUT. Having said that my take on the Tube -vs- SS is that it is nice to have tubes 'somewhere' in the system. Tubes have distortion (which is ok) but if you have tubes in all parts of the amplification - phono...

Miyajima Takumi, Fremer reviews it in the current Stereophile, Breuninger mounts it.

Miyajima I have not actually heard one but I'll bet the ebony has something to do with it. When I put an ebony armboard on my TT it did something for the sound, and likewise the only time I have ever heard a difference with headshells is the Yamamoto HS1A that is made from African Blackwood -...

So.. You Come Home And Your Dog Is On The Roof...

Of course it is funny from the beginning (or first post) ... we ALL understand poetic licence. After the interrogation: what was the pooch's explanation?
