I am a big fan of Ebony. I have a Technics 1210 that I have put about 100 hours of work into. Part of that included an Ebony armboard and Ebony Stabiliser (made by Magna Audio) and an Ebony headshell. Musical Instruments are made from this stuff - think clarinet, oboe, black piano keys...- zog

I have heard these. I can compare them to my Triangle Magellan Cellos. The short point is this: they are way better than the Cellos. Compared with Canton K3 they are similar, but I would say the Cantons are better. There is not much between them so if you prefer the looks of the Sopras that... -

Cellos are the SW2, about 5 years old. If I could replace the drivers that were replaced that might be an idea. Could do a lot worse!- zog

I have the Cellos. Very good for singer-songwriter material. Also very good regarding room placement (front firing port and horn loaded tweeter). The sweet spot is very large. Thinking about upgrading to the the new Magico A3s!- zog

Tube or SS phono stage? Vote for your prefernce.
I voted SS because - as a generality - SS is quieter, especially if you can use an SUT. Having said that my take on the Tube -vs- SS is that it is nice to have tubes 'somewhere' in the system. Tubes have distortion (which is ok) but if you have tubes in all parts of the amplification - phono...- zog

Miyajima I have not actually heard one but I'll bet the ebony has something to do with it. When I put an ebony armboard on my TT it did something for the sound, and likewise the only time I have ever heard a difference with headshells is the Yamamoto HS1A that is made from African Blackwood -...- zog
