Found my bliss with Shindo Vosne-Romanee (+ Nagra 300p)

If I run the amp as an integrated it doesn’t have the juice unless I listen to acoustic and small jazz but it sounds wonderful if the music isn’t complex. Great tonality and clarity. Very good amp. When I add the preamp it is a completely different story. It has plenty of dynamics and meat for...

Found my bliss with Shindo Vosne-Romanee (+ Nagra 300p)

Whammerdyne DAA 2a3 amp. Sounds lovely, zero complaints. Using an Audio Note M3 preamp. Nice combo.

Found my bliss with Shindo Vosne-Romanee (+ Nagra 300p)

Thanks for the write up. I too have a pair of O96 speakers and have lusted after a shindo piece to see what it’s all about. I hope it brings years of joy for you.

    REL vs JL Audio subs

A few months ago I bought a REL Carbon special without knowing what to expect. I heard so many positives I thought I’d try. My room is quite large 17x38. My O96’s were always super enjoyable and went pretty low so it was a shock just what an improvement the sub made. It was even better when I...

What turntables do you use? Pictures would be nice as well :-)

Wow that’s gorgeous. You’re motivating me to get my 301 out of the closet now!

Cartridge for Schroder CB 9 tonearm

Thank you for the offer! However I just put in an order about 4 days ago. It will be nice to have even if I don’t need it right away. I will be able to experiment with a wider variety of carts in the future. I have heard wonderful things about Aida’s carts-definitely on my short list.

Cartridge for Schroder CB 9 tonearm

Thank you for your feedback. I really should pick up the brass head shell. The Lyra cartridges seem to get a lot of good press and I’ve always wanted to try an SPU but haven’t read much about the Nude versions. Thanks again to you both.

Cartridge for Schroder CB 9 tonearm

Thanks guys. I do not have the heavier head shell currently. Just the stock headshell that makes my tonearm 14g effective mass. The Hyperion is out of my financial range but looking at the rebuild cost maybe it could be worth saving for.

Cartridge for Schroder CB 9 tonearm

Hello all. I am looking for a compatible cartridge for my Schroder CB9 tonearm. I have never used anything other than MM cartridges. I now use an Audio Note IQ3 which is getting long in years. If anyone has had any experience knowing some good synergy with this arm I’d love to hear about it...

    In praise of idlers

Nice decision. Can’t go wrong either way. I purchased the speed controller as a package but there is zero you’re missing out on if you just got the table/bearing and then get the controller at a later date when you’re ready. The necessity and effectiveness of things like this are so variable...

    In praise of idlers

Ha! I know the feeling. I almost bought this table 2 years ago and then was paralyzed by analysis. It’s hard when all one has to go off is random feedback from systems one is unfamiliar with.

    In praise of idlers

Thank you! I have been very happy with it. I was unsure what color to get. I was so tired of just black. So I thought white would ‘pop’ in an understated way. Plus it doesn’t show dust. I had Peter add the upgraded bearing, footers and also his speed controller. It was so simple to set up and it...

I’ll try. Hope this works. PTP Solid 9 with Schroder CB 9.

    In praise of idlers

Who made your plinth? I have a refurbished Garrard that has been sitting unused in my closet for three years. I’d love to get it up and running but as I’ve got a nice PTP Lenco with Schroder arm I haven’t been in a hurry nor do I want to buy a plinth costing multiple thousands. Yours looks nice.

Which will be your next purchase?

Just purchased a PTP solid 9 from Peter with a Scroder CB9 arm, speed controller and all the upgrades available. First major turntable for me (within my budget).
