All Lampi DACs are tube rectified and form what I recall, only some of the first generation Atlantics were ever solid state rectified.
So, the only way to determine how a Lampi DAC is to sound with a solid state rectifier in place would be through using something like this...
Indeed, the digital board is more or less the same with the exception of the added 4GBs of RAM in the Pulse.
But the Pulse power supply (which quoting the Innuos site includes an audio-grade toroidal transformer with epoxy-filled centre for dampening vibration, magnetic screening with coated...
It would be quite difficult to match the power supply in the Pulse with an external one, not only because it's an extremely good but also because it's designed specifically for it.
The Pulse also includes a great D to D converter inside, so its digital outputs cannot be matched by the mini.
First off, I would have to say there is no hard-and-fast rule that using pentodes as triodes would result in a univocally beneficial outcome.
It all quite depends on the circuit and application.
In the Atlantic, apart from specific design goals it also serves as a means to open a wider family of...
To amend my post, all files on my USB stick are now visible. Maybe I just didn't notice since you can scroll down while inside the files window. Stupid me...
SQ is also super with the new 2.6.1 iteration.
Cheers,
Ted
I was referring to the elements within the tube. A pentode has by design five elements but can be operated as a triode also using three elements (as on the Atlantic). In many tube amps this is quite common and a way to either lower wattage or impart a slightly different sound signature, usually...
While you can use the 6J5 tubes in the Atlantic (because it uses pentodes in triode mode - 6J5 is a triode- leaving two elements unused or one in the case of tetrodes like the KT family tubes), the Horizon needs all elements of the pentodes used, so it cannot operate as intended with 6J5's in place.
Playing files off a USB stick on the Pulsar is nothing more than a utility feature and certainly nothing to write home about SQwise.
Besides, only a handful of files can be read off the USB stick.
I have a 256GB USB stick with dozens of files and only the first few (ten or so) show up under...
That's my experience as well.
Ethernet cables (maybe unfortunately so...) still seem to matter to some degree, even after filtering and switches.
The whole subject as to why is far more complex than accepting they just make a difference and a clue may be found in how differences between...
I like the Sense app and use it exclusively.
But the ability to stream from UPnP/DLNA "sources" might have other benefits too.
What I find most intriguing is the ability to stream from cloud storage (Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive) directly to your machine.
You can do that through BubbleUPnP...
