Lampizator Valve / Tube Rolling Review Thread

Great story! Thanks for sharing. I'm a big fan too of the Tele RGN2004 rectifier in the Lampi's conductor's seat (as i call it) and Laslzo's TP adapters. The F2A output tube is no wilting flower with 2 amps across its filament. Enjoy!

Tung-Sol KT170 - Matched Quad, Very Lightly Used

Hello my What's Best Fellows. I'm selling my spare matched quad of KT170 tubes and they are being offered in Canadian dollarettes, so they may be attractive for you Americans who have real currency. I am now replete with power tubes for my Horizon DAC and it's time this set is put to good use...

Thanks for the additional info. Yes, SET is more “noisy” relative to SS, but in SE it should be even-order harmonics (i.e. distortion that is more pleasing to human ears than other forms of inherent distortion).

Lampizator Valve / Tube Rolling Review Thread

Hi Highstream! Sorry for the tardy reply. I've been offline for a while. I do have a suggestion, but you may not like it. I suggest you take the PS Audio Regenerator out of the power circuit (i.e. disconnect your GG 2/3 from it and even your preamp). PS Audio does some unsual (i.e...

Lampizator Valve / Tube Rolling Review Thread

I have no doubt that Dave makes an awesome cable and I did not intend to suggest otherwise by my comments. They look very well made. So glad to hear the latest elements in your system are synergizing and blooming in place. It's always satisfying when a plan comes together with good results...

Lampizator Valve / Tube Rolling Review Thread

Hello Highstream. Laszlo does use a braided cover from what I can see and it looks like he terminates the braiding at the spaded end. However, I have have not confirmed that with him. Based on the obsessive and detailed design of his TP adapters (relative to other offerings in the market), I...

Lampizator Valve / Tube Rolling Review Thread

Interesting experiential input. Thank you. Always appreciated. My experience with the Telefunken black mesh RGN2004 Klangfilm in the rectifier seat of my Horizon is that it added more tube warmth, air and body without loss of dynamics and an accurate transient response compared to other...

LampizatOr Horizon - Tube Rolling Paradise

I'm a big fan of fully balanced as well (at least in amplifiers). The stage has a lower noise floor and better channel separation because the amplifier circuits for left and right are completely separate in a balanced design and there is not a common negative circuit like there is in single...

LampizatOr Horizon - Tube Rolling Paradise

Thanks. The Horizon uses pentodes in the output buffer circuit. Pentodes create mostly 3rd order harmonics. I think the Poseidon's output buffer is compatible with triode and pentode tubes. As I recall, the Pacific DAC uses Triodes in either a balanced or SE. Ray

LampizatOr Horizon - Tube Rolling Paradise

Hello my What's Best Fellows. I'm asking the following question in this thread because I couldn't find a technical forum on the Horizon DAC and because I consider many of you to be technically strong audiophiles (certainly more expert than I am). Of course, I would invite Lukasz' input as the...

LampizatOr Horizon - Tube Rolling Paradise

The Tele ec8020 is truly a one of a kind design. The Picasso of small signal high transconductance tubes. Do you use a pair or two pair (like the C3g)?

LampizatOr Horizon - Tube Rolling Paradise

Hi folks. The post about my repaired Horizon DAC drew a response as opposed to an answer. I have consequently removed it. I have always been and remain a fan of Lampizator and its products. My comment of "when and not if" was based on "my" understanding of the supplier defect, but Lukasz...

LampizatOr Horizon - Tube Rolling Paradise

I have only compared the Tele G2504/WE56 to the Tele RGN2004/WE52 and preferred the later. The Tele G2504 is a good performer, but like the Valvo WE56 equivalent, its has a 2.5A filament. I have found that my SFR P17C "output" tubes respond better with the 2.0A filament of the RGN2004. In...
