    Amarra Software or other comps

Hi Brian, It's actually not iTunes that processes the sound. It simply passes on the bit perfect audio file to the Apples CoreAudio process which, as I understand it, is where the sonic issues are. There is something like this in Windows also however, I don't know what it's called...

When It Comes To Refrigeration Is It Subzero Vs Everything Else

There is a Gyn/Onc in Toronto who practiced there for a few years and returned to Canada. In the non-academic setting they still make massive dollars and she was in this camp. Not heart surgery but getting up there. Certainly more than in Canada! She wanted to be closer to family though. In...

When It Comes To Refrigeration Is It Subzero Vs Everything Else

I wanted to move to California about ten years ago. My career was headed that way as I was working with some of production people for The Rolling Stones at the time and they were in Los Angeles. My wife wasn't so keen. She was finishing her fellowship in Gyn/Onc and had some offers to go...

    Most unusual foods

For me it was a texture sort of thing rather than a taste sort of thing... The urchin that is. I can't get my brain around it.

When It Comes To Refrigeration Is It Subzero Vs Everything Else

Oh, I had to get into this one just to vent. We bought a Sub-Zero when we redid our kitchen eight years ago. The designer selected it and it has been a parade of repair people ever since. Annually it throws out another trouble code and then you get out your AMEX. I now know why they make...

    Most unusual foods

It's not terribly adventurous but venison heart and liver, crickets, grasshoppers, gator and sea urchin. Avoid the sea urchin... For a while I was into hunting and cooking shortly thereafter. Venison tenderloin with a port wine cranberry sauce - that sort of thing. Seared on each side for...

    BBQ Galore Turbo STS

We have a Ducane which is long in the tooth but has performed flawlessly. We are considering this model for next year to replace it and use the Ducane at the cottage. http://www.kalamazoogourmet.com/hybrid_advantage.php

    Best Sports Car Under $100K

I would have done the Audi RS4 but it came out the year after I bought my S4. It's a really fun family car. Next year we are looking into the RS7 with the twin turbo V10. I think it's rated at 600 hp and should be even more fun for the whole family. My guess is it's going to be a tad north...

    Last of the cowboys

Thanks! : ) He went for about thirty minutes that day. Just dancing his little heart out. His older brother likes to curl up on my lap on Saturday mornings and just sit and listen. Yesterday he asked what jazz was. "Well, you have come to the right place my young man!"

Power cords - do they really make a difference, other than potentially reduce noise?

This is really cool. I've looked at the viewing stats for this thread and the other thread about "Do Cables Make a Difference" (or something like that) and thousands of people have checked it out. Pretty much every other topic on this site is pretty quiet if not dead by comparison. Everyone...

Power cords - do they really make a difference, other than potentially reduce noise?

I may actually know this one or at least have a plausible theory. Most motor controllers are actually noisy devices and AC power goes both ways. The noise from the controller gets back into your wall circuit and fouls the line. So goes the "theory". Therefore, putting a power cord that...

Proof that cables Do make a difference

Insanity at its best! Absolutely wild little thread you have going here and I'm in awe. I can only offer my personal experience and a couple of thoughts on this. 1) Yes, sometimes I have been able to hear differences with audio cables and sometimes not. I'm not sure why, but I do. 2)...

    Turntable Isolation

I'm using Silent Running Audio, Ohio Class isolation bases on a Silent Running Audio CRAZ isoRACK plus. The Ohio bases take care of the HF vibrations and the CRAZ takes care of the LF vibrations. I've had three of the CRAZ racks at various times and have used the Ohio bases under almost...
