    Alexx Vs arrived

The break-in process clearly isn’t binary. The speakers are sounding better by the day now! Bass definition has improved. Mid range has loss some of the tightness. High frequencies are less harsh. Sounding pretty, pretty, pretty good…to quote Larry David.

Room is 14x18. Back wall is carved wood cabinetry. Left side is mainly glass doors and windows - not great. Right side is partially open to the kitchen. No treatments yet. However, that is going to need to change. Boulder 3060, TBD Pre-Amp and potentially different DAC (currently Rossini)...

I suspect you're right. It's not that they're bad right now. They just aren't great. I am also trying to be as balanced in my review as possible and avoid buyer's biasing.

I don't think so. I am also hopeful that I can avoid a sub. I am trying to keep the room clean. All the components sit in the wall cabinets.

    Alexx Vs arrived

Arrived today. I am still awaiting the amplifier I ordered (Boulder 3060) and pre-amplifier (TBD). They got initial positioning and setup with D'Agostino Momentum amp and Rossini. My initial reaction to them vs. the Alexia's they replaced: 1) Richer bass but a bit tight. 2) Mid-range is...

My post comes off declarative - apologize for that. It is merely an opinion.

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

I know the Aurender stuff sounds very good. I say, "...very good," as opposed to great because I have not been able to A|B it. In other words, it might very well be GREAT. But, the fact that they roll their own software feels like a bridge too far. The UI/UX is inferior to Roon. I just wish...

Thank you very much for your reply! What you're saying feels right. The critical point being that 'latest tech' is maybe less critical than the most appropriate for the job.

    MSB Select II arrival

I struggle with the comment that the software cannot improve the product. The software was written with the hardware spec and experience in hand. With that I am sure it is released as best when released. But knowledge advances. The software is a major component in the pursuit of audio...

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

The Taiko is a very intriguing product for me. I have read the various posts and it seems to that literally every customer is very happy with their purchase. But, I am also wary. The machine is a high end, bespoke PC any way you shake it. That also means that it is a rapidly evolving...
