    Grimm Audio MU2 "Major Dac"

Christiaan / HiFi-Advice review is out. A balanced and thorough review, imo, that explores the server, DAC and preamp aspects of the MU2. https://www.hifi-advice.com/blog/review/digital-reviews/network-player-reviews/grimm-mu2/

    Grimm Audio MU2 "Major Dac"

Yes, Eelco or someone from Grimm Audio did confirm that it’s 8fs internally. Probably to match the requirement of their Major Dac / 1.5 bit topology. A big part of the subjective review is in the YT video.

    Melco n1zh60 what type fuse

When I had the N1ZH/60 previously, my dealer informed me that there are no user replaceable fuses. Understand that the fuses are PCB mounted.

Weiss Helios - POV on sound

@Verdant Audio Thank you for your impressions, especially in the context of a top class system. There is another review of the Helios, which I posted on the Weiss sub-forum. https://www.soundstageaustralia.com/index.php/reviews/817-weiss-engineering-helios-digital-to-analogue-converter

    Weiss New Reference Helios DAC

Finally, first review of the Helios, with a comparison to Medus. Same reviewer previously reviewed the DAC 502 Mk 2 as well. Rest of the system is up to mark too. Helios review: https://www.soundstageaustralia.com/index.php/reviews/817-weiss-engineering-helios-digital-to-analogue-converter...

New TAD Evolution series C-1000 preamp

Yes, essentially monoblock preamps, presumably into monoblock power amps. This would result in a redundant channel in each monoblock preamp though. I recall reading somewhere that TAD has used 2 x C600 as monoblock preamps at an audio show prevously.

Philippe, have you had a chance to listen to the Helios yet?

    New Weiss DAC 501 / 502

Weiss has published a white paper on the changes made to the DAC501/502 Mk2 version: https://weiss.ch/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/White-paper-on-the-DAC50x-4ch.pdf When using in a stereo system, it makes no difference that the Mk 2 version enables 4-channel output. As I understand it, this just...

    Grimm Audio MU2 "Major Dac"

The speakers look to be (or a variant of) the Ensemble PA1, used with Grimm’s own subwoofers. In some show reports, the rear passive radiator will be visible, as is the silver mid/woofer https://www.stereophile.com/content/pawelensemble-pa-1-amp-reference-loudspeakers

    TAD Reference D700 CD/SACD player

Given the pedigree of your system, that’s saying a lot. Would it he a question of a same brand synergy ? Do you use the D700 as a SACD / CD player or as a DAC ? Thanks.

    New Weiss DAC 501 / 502

Just to clarify, I am using the Melco N1ZH/2EX-H60 as a NAS / server. I am not using the Melco S100 switch. The are various reports that claim that the Melco S100 and BS-GS2016 are internally similar if not the same (for example, see post #427 here...
