Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

My experience with TAS and Roon: I was comparing 3 fundamentally quite different DACs and used Roon for convenience. When I switched back to TAS, I quickly realised that the difference between TAS and Roon was bigger than the difference between the three DACs.

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

My Extreme started to sound really good after around 1500 hours (call it two months of non-stop running).

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

Footers always make a difference when there is AC involved. It may not always be for the better, but they do :)

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

The question I have on this is - do CM2 footers (or any other footers) make a positive difference on a pure DC power supply? It's one thing when there is AC and completely different when it's all DC. It may or may not. I don't know...

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

Why do you need the Taiko DIY chassis in this case? The main thing that sets the Taiko DIY chassis apart from others is the passive cooling for dual socket FCLGA3647 CPUs. If you don't need the passive cooling, you can use many other chassis. (sorry about the offtopic posts)

Sitting Taiko SGM extreme with Wadax Atlantis Server

@ShawnZH - great experiment. Thank you for sharing. Are you planning to stay with the Wadax Atlantic Server? Certainly not the best. Moving from WASAPI to ASIO is an improvement. Moving to the Taiko USB driver (which might not be possible with this DAC) is yet another improvement, although the...

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

It's an issue with some racks as components placed on the bottom shelf sound better than the same components on the top shelf. It's all about the rack design. And just to be clear, I am not referring to the CMS platforms.

The video should be renamed to "Jay self-interviewing himself in front of Emile". Emile barely had a chance to talk...

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

Let me add a couple of things to this as well. First, the Extreme is 3 years old already and it's normal to (finally) have some competition. Technology advances quickly these days. When it was released 3 years ago, it was developed to run as a Roon server. And from my point of view it was so...

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

Lightning is not a very good example. If you get hit with lightning, the fuse will like not save you. Certainly the difference between a 4A and 5A fuse is not big enough to stop a lightning. That's exactly it. That's why changing fuses with different values voids the warranty on most equipment...

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

If I understand this correctly you want to take audio from the HDMI of your video source and play it through your audio system. If that's the case, this is not a function of the server (i.e. Taiko Extreme in your case). It's a function of the DAC to convert your digital source signal to analog...

    Introducing Center Stage 2M

Has anyone tried if a big industrial fan blowing directly to the equipment 24/7 speeds up the settle time? Half joking, half serious...
