Ever since I shared with WBF brothers the CrystalConnect Art Series Da Vinci cables in Dec 2020, I received many pm.

The numerous pm can be summarized to 2 simple comments :
1. The Da Vinci cables are probably outstanding but are too dear for me.
2. What are your 2nd best recommendations for frontends/preamps?

I fully concur with the comment 1.
The Da Vinci cables are way beyond my budget too.
So on this thread I would like to share with you what I myself am using, and IMHO it's the 2nd best power-cable for frontends/preamps : the Vertere HBS.

The HBS being the flagship power-cable of Vertere, the packaging does look more high class.
It got a nice fibric bag and is put in a nice aluminum case :

The whole power-cable :

The plugs are sturdy & proprietary, made with CNC metal and is in a very sharp orange colour :

There are two fixed metallic modules on the HBS powercord. Not sure whether they are for vibration control only, or are there any active or inactive circuits inside :

I first listened to it in a good friend's audio system.
I was particularly impressed when he played this legendary Sonny Rollins album, a vintage Japan version mono LP :

The HBS was used on his Goldmund preamp and it gave the music so much resolution, microdynamics, agility and realness that I at that time fully undertood why good vintage mono Jazz LPs were often so expensive.
It's because they really make the listeners SWING!

I made my HBS purchase decision in less than 20 mins. o_O
It's now serving my MSB Select Transport and I am extremely happy about its performance.

Is the CrystalConnect Da Vinci power-cable better than the HBS? Yes of course!
In fact, I auditioned the Vertere HBS first, intrigued by it and purchased it before I came across the CrystalConnect Da Vinci cables.
I have no regret in my purchase decision and am currently very content with my Vertere HBS.

Who knows? Maybe one day in future I receive a fortune and can are able to get some Da Vinci cable. Haha
:p

Your power cable does not look like the one pictured on their website. Do you have an older version?

The one in your photo is the Vertere HB power-cable.
I have two of them, being used on my two Totaldac xlr version D1-Drivers.

The Vertere power-cable of this thread (#1) is the new Vertere flagship : HBS power-cable.
I have one of it. It is for my MSB Select Transport.

Hi CKKeung!

And here is question number 3:

3. What do you think is the best power cable for poweramps?

I am very curious about your answer.

Best regards

Hi CKKeung,
did you try out the Argento FMR EE powercord? I believe AE in HK carries both Argento and Vertere brands.

Hi CKKeung, i am intriqued by your impression of the Crystal davinci powercord. I had the Crystal absolute dream and ultimate dream powercords before. One was too thin sounding and the is the opposite being too full and veiled. The davinci must be very special indeed.

Hi Verdier,
Sorry, I still can't decide on an "overall best" powercord for poweramp yet.

Hemingway Audio power cables (I have the Z-Core Beta) are the best AC cables I've ever heard at any price. Thrax uses them at audio shows. Any discussion of what is the "best" has to consider them.

Hemingway Audio/ Lansche Audio/EMM Labs
This was another stellar sounding room featuring Hemingway Audio, Lansche Audio, and EMM Labs. The Lansche Audio N0.9.2 ($200,000) loudspeakers, a three-way, seven-driver (0.3” Corona plasma tweeter) was driven by the massive EMM Labs MTRX2 monoblocks ($85,000), an EMM Labs Pre stereo preamplifier ($25,000) source by the EMM Labs DV2 converter ($25,000) and a TX2 CD/SACD transport, and wired with superb sounding Hemingway Audio new Z cord series cables from South Korea. Usually at the audio trade shows, Sunday sound are the best after the systems settle in. I couldn’t believe it. When I returned on Sunday I hear big improvements to the sound of the system. It wasn’t just that the system had settled in, it was the Hemingway Audio Z core cables in the system. The only thing that was different in the system was the cables. Hemingway Audio’s representative was able to retune the system using different Z core cables throughout the system. Wow… good sounding system just turned into a great sounding one. Who said the cables don’t make a difference? Hemingway’s patented revolutionary technique deals with the magnetic field produced by the electric field and the core of its winding of the line in the shape of “Z” with a double-ground at the center. (Review in works)

I am running the HBS on my Merason DAC 1.

Yes, it’s very good.

Makes all other power cords on the Merason sound mechanical and boring.

Let's say things comes and goes in my system as I'm perhaps a bit too eager to try new things every now and then, I used to have it all wired with Vertere cables but now I only have the HBS left and as I sold my entire vinyl section a while ago I have an overflow of cables. The HBS was so much better than both the HB and the Red Line, but it's too much money for me to step up to that level for all my cables so I decided to move in another direction instead. Every now and then I get bad conscious for buying too expensive cables...

I'm still using and enjoying it though and in no hurry to sell, more like I'm open to the idea of it as I could use the money.

Thank you.
I have used DIY Olflex before to go to expensive cables....

HBS can also be used on amps.

I have it on my integrated and it sounds fantastic.

In fact, I prefer to have HBS on the integrated and my Isotek Ascension cord on the Merason. Ascension brings more balance and that beautiful treble to the Merason.
