Abbas dac 2.1 se

Can we see pics of those speakers please.?

I have seen these and had several very impressive listens.
A very revealing set up that my 3.2SE Abbas DAC has visited a few times. Shows the Abbas off very well!!
LPG may be a day or 2 replying ATM.
But yes some eye candy please:)

Hi guys,
Anyone had a chance to compare to SW1X DAC V ? How is the sound character vs. Abbas big machines ?
* asking as I may have an opportunity on one with their upgraded transformers and TDA1541A S2

any news from Abbas?

Cheers Patrick
Abbas mail reply cycle is currently quite slow (I would assume it is the war situation).
In anycase, i’m not sure he has a solution for that. I eventually asked him to send me the “old” board with CS8414 receiver (cost is $28), should be shipped to me this week.

Ok but do you think the problem is really with the board or could it be more of a communication issue, meaning that 24/192 might not actually work at all?

Yes, WM8804 supports 24/192

although as you understand, TDA1541 will not see anything more than 16/44, since this is a chip developed in 1985.

The point of using the Wolfson receiver is of course not only 24/192, but that it has low jitter

Nevertheless, it should receive a 24/96 stream without problems, in each specific case we need to figure it out why it is not so, but on the DAC side there are no settings that can affect the stream - the receiver is in hard-mode, and the TDA1541 has not changed since 1985

As for the click - yes, there is such a feature of Wolfson 8804 - to make a click when switching the sampling frequency, but this is a chip feature. I chose this chip for the sound quality and the possibility of clocking it from a tube clock.

״

In practice, I was not able to get more than 24/96 plus it makes a noise/click when switching frequencies which for me is an issue.

Thank you for the explanation, that makes sense.

I understand that the TDA1541 is limited to 16/44 and that the WM8804 was chosen because of the low jitter. I am curious to see if I will encounter the same problem.

I was never able to do a real time back to back A/B of the Sw1x vs Abbas, but I did get a loaner Sw1X Dac II to listen to in home and then sent it back and eventually ended up with a Abbas 4.0 gold.

I really feel no need to cahnge DAC's at this poitn, as I cant see what i woudl ganie from the 4.0 that I already have.

I'd love to A/B real time, but I'm not going to get another loaner unit, because those who loaned it to me were not pleased that I posted photos of the unit on my Hifihaven thread and were not happy that I wouldn't take the photos down. I'm sure having a true back to back, given the bad blood between the two companies wouldn't be welcome either. To me it seems that Sw1x has more to loose than Abbas does from a true back to back.

When I hit the lotto, I'll buy a Sw1x and do a proper A/B, then post my impressions

My journery is documented here: https://hifihaven.org/index.php?threads/sw1x-dac.7777/

Good luck with the Lotto but IMO if you numbers come in just buy a new Hermes :)

Did anyone was in contact with him in the last days?

No I haven't but I wouldn't expect anything soon. Have you ordered something?

Yes ordered a Dac ;)
Hi,

as mentioned many times in this thread: Abbas is not someone in front of his tablet/smartphone/laptop
It is a boutique manufactur and dont worry, it takes some time! He has no sales person nor outsourced marketing to respond immediately...

He is mentioning this usually in every of his email.

NO, i dont get any money to promote him continiously! Just someone extremly pleased with his work and ones you will get your device, you will astonished how much details he pays attention for.. its not less than Audio Note, Kondo or SW1x... handmade craftsmanship, right in the toughest warzone in Europe!!

Rgds,
Gerald

Yes patience is hard in the circumstance but +1

@titleist85 It is worth the wait. The circumstances in which Abbas operates are of course complex and he would have much pressure.

Look forward to hearing what you have ordered and after burn in and listening hearing all about it and all stress will be forgotten.

I ordered a 2.41 signature ;) hopefully it will fit good in my setup with Shindo Aurieges L, Concertino 300B and Tannoy Red 15 inch speakers.

Cheers

Good choice and great chain (love Concertino!) !!
Be aware "Signature" versions takes Abbas months longer to finish... lot of additional steps necessary and he is very serious about it ;-)

Ooh a sweet spot for sure , congratulations and look forward to reading your updates.
If you have ordered new, its been said before the wait is worth it!! So it might be a while, these hand built gems make digital music listening so enjoyable.
I noticed a new listing on the secondary market, someone selling a similar model and focusing on analogue.
Could you be the lucky new owner?
