What are my rights? UK deal canceled by seller (after agreement) few hours in advance

Hi!

Last week I negotiated a deal after seeing an ad on www.hifi-forsale.co.uk. I am living in Holland and the seller is in the UK. We agreed upon a price and it was no problem to collect the goods at his address. After emailing several times to make sure everything was in place we agreed upon a price and date, which was last Friday. Last Thursday we had contact again (through email) and I finally booked tickets to go through the eurotunnel at Calais. After this I informed the seller again, because there was a chance that I would be one hour earlier then we agreed. This was no problem according to the seller, because he would be at home the entire day. He even told me he was looking forward to sell the equipment to me.

I went to bed early because my trip would start at 03:45. When I woke up at 03:00 and checked my email I noticed the seller had emailed me at 23:58 that he canceled the deal because he got a better offer . Needless to say I felt very disappointed and emailed him back that I atleast expected a refund on my tickets (74 euro's) because he canceled on such a short notice. During Friday afternoon I emailed two more times because I did not get a response. The add was put on "sold", so the seller disappeared offline.

Three days went by and the seller never(to this point) replied to my emails. This morning I found out that he has putted the goods online again, for sale.

Question What are my rights in this case? I did not made a sales contract, but we both agreed on the price, date etc. in the emailconversation, so that is on paper. Since the seller is located in the UK, and I am in Holland, I am wondering which laws are valid in this case.
- Is a refund for my tickets justified?
- Could I still legally enforce the made arrangements?

Perhaps someone had to deal with something similar in the past. Any advice is more then welcome!
