is at the Palace in Albany tonite, and at the Beacon in NYC Friday and Sat, 9/21-22.
I've seen him many times, but if you are a fan, and didn't get the alert, I gather it is not sold out (and sometimes, as you know, they release good seats right at the end).
Anybody goes, give 'em the finger for me.
He can be very good if he's in a bluesy mode, but I get bored with the hard rock stuff.

Yeah, I like Joe, but he's basically just a classic rock guitarist. When he leans further toward the blues, it gets a bit more interesting. Don't get me wrong, I'm not underestimating him. He's an awesome classic rock guitarist, had he been born a couple of decades earlier he'd probably be carved in the mountain side with the likes of Jeff Beck, but he's plowing very familiar ground. He provides nothing as thrillingly unexpected as, say, a bad night with Richard Thompson or really good one with Kelly Joe Phelps.

He is much more interesting when doing the blues. I really liked his version of Stop (not to be confused with the Lonnie Mack 'Stop'). And some of his earlier records. He can play. But the hard driving rock stuff bores the **** out of me. The Beacon's a good venue though. And who knows who else might pop in?
