I think you can tell from my Avatar, the band that had the biggest impact on me. I'll be a veteran cosmic rocker until the day I die.

This is one of my all time favs, not a stinker on it. Actually Carry On My Wayward Son is my least favorite, but still excellent. My original pressing has survived the years well. I was skeptical when we cued it up at Mikes place and was pleasantly surprised.

Kansas are indeed a great band and Rich Williams is a very underrated guitarist

PS I was plopping mustard pancakes into my Pampers when Nursery Cryme came out. It wasn't until I was older in the late 80s that I discovered this music. And it has stuck with me ever since. Someone also mentioned Seconds Out early in the thread... So good. I had a friend who was a talented percussionist and we used to blast Seconds Out in his room while his parents were gone with him playing along on drums (to a tee) with me singing (horrifically) with max echo. Ah, the memories.
I was Chester, my buddy Phil, black light and wood drumsticks with white plastic tips, do the math! ;)o_O:eek::p

Def-Leppard Pyromania. I worshipped this album in 4th grade. I eventually moved on to other music and could care less about them.
But 20+ years later as I was composing my first album, little bits of that record would pop i to my mind and it actually helped me to rethink my transitions and such.
No interest in ever hearing it ever again but it’s a part of me.

"Gong Live etc", is in my opinion the greatest live album I've ever heard. I've been listening to it for over 40 years now and never tired of it.
Many people, Brits in particular, weren't able to understand Daevid Allen's lyrics, his humour or his talent. Each member of what I will call the Virgin Records line up of this band were extraordinarily talented.
Daevid Allen himself, originally of Soft Machine, was a brilliant singer and songwriter. Moreover his glissando guitar technique was beautiful. The Drummer Pierre Moerlens, was one of the most amazing and discreet drummers I've ever listened to. Mike Howlett on Bass Guitar always played exactly what was required, nothing more, nothing less. The lead guitarist Steve Hillage, a unique master at his craft. Gilli Smyth adding her wonderful "Space whispers" and singing. And the Saxophonist Didier Malherbe was simply sublime in his talent. 16970667759716675944591004481153.jpg
