While reading Ray Dolby's obit in "The Week" I saw across the page the obit for Robert Taylor. He was an entrepreneur who invented "Softsoap" which he eventually sold to Colgate Palmolive for $61M. What was intriguing was that Taylor realized it would be easy to copy his liquid soap, so before he went to market with the product, he used all of his assets to buy up the supply of plastic pumps - some 100 million of them, creating a back order so big, no one could get any of this crucial part.

He started young - selling a homing pigeon to a local pet store, several times!
