I received the newly released Analogue Production Norah Jones: Come Away With Me SACD yesterday from Acoustic Sounds. On first listen I liked the way it sounded - good dynamics, wide/deep sound stage, and good full bodied imaging. I haven't compared it to the RBCD I have yet, but since I record my systems playback levels, there's reason to believe the AP/SACD (-13.0 dB) possesses more headroom and dynamic contrasts than the Blue Note RBCD (-18.5 db) I have.

Not sure I'm following you, Len. Are you saying the RBCD is louder?

According to his figures, the dynamic range on the CD is larger! If he's talking about RMS value, the SACD is louder, thus, less dynamic range.

Yes Tim, the RBCD is recorded louder. My preamp volume control is set to display a -dB from its maximum volume attenuation. Therefore the SACD's -13.0 dB volume attenuation is less than the RBCD's -18.5 dB attenuation. In other words I have to turn the preamp volume down further for the RBCD. I hope this makes sense - sorry for the confusion.
