Nagra HD DAC - anyone chose balanced output

looks like we will be getting them about the same time - I am getting MPS and base for DAC only - not convinced that the spring type base ( using what looks like sorbothane or similar plugs) is the ultimate but happy to try - unfortunately I am away for 2 weeks so you will be ahead of me in the burning in process

I have just received my Nagra HD DAC and I have a serious issue, mine came with the optional balanced output transformers, this option means that the RCA's no longer function, although you can switch some jumpers internally to allow the RCA's to work - you get one or the other. The issue I have is, through the XLR outputs I have very low gain and zero lower frequencies, something is wrong. I have lodged a support email with Nagra but yet to hear back from them.

I have done all the usual troubleshooting but no joy. The headphone output sounds completely different so clearly something is up with the line level outputs.

Yoikes - that is not good - I had the understood volume control still worked through rca so it sounds like the insertion of balanced transformers was not done correctly

That's odd. Wonder if something jiggled loose in shipping? Is the tube seated properly? My Nagra VPS has a few ribbon cables - if your HD dac has these I wonder is a cable isn't seated properly. Sorry wish I could help more.

Have you checked the pinouts on the balanced for both devices - they can have a different protocol as you probably know
