It seems I get this strange occurrence when listening to remastered LPs. Especially the Blue Notes, Verve jazz recordings and other recordings as well. I am not sure if its in an effort to increase the sense of space or what but it drives me crazy when a loud trumpet sounds and its mainly Trumpets and also voices being to close to the mIcrophone, I get this sensation that just startles me and is not a pleasant experience. One record in particular, Music Matters Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers Moanin SRX is just terrible with regards to this. Ive heard it on Blue Train, Classic Records Billie Holiday songs for DIstingue Lovers, Van Morrison remaster of Moondance and others. I almost never hear this phenomena on original pressings. If its there on the originals, its not in your face and makes you jump out of your seat. What the heck is going on with modern remastering techniques to cause this obvious recording error or mistake to become so obvious that it takes away from the music itself?
