I took this picture while there:

As usual, the MLs put out good sound, including the lowest unit in the rank which I think they said costs $2K???

I believe the left-most is the prototype for a new ESL to be released sometime in 2011, "codenamed" Summit X Jr. The speaker uses the new DSP crossover engine, coupled with a smaller-than-Summit X 10" woofer arrangement. This will replace the Spire model and list is notionally $10K.

ML also introduced a Motion LX series, as well as two new ElectroMotion models.

You are correct that the outer speaker are the Summit X Jr's and that their price point is somewhere around the $10k point. While the set up was less than wonderful and to my taste these speakers were too far apart given the listening distance, I must say that they have promise, although I am not sure why one would go for them rather than buying a pair of Summit X's on the used market for $9500. What concerns me the most is that Paradigm seems to have strange intentions with the entire ML line in the form of making it a lower price point speaker and pushing the Paradigms as the superior product.

I think part of the pressure is coming from their marketing/sales channel. They pushed the product into big box stores like Fry's, noticed it didn't sell and now think the price is it. They keep damaging the reputation of the product as a high-end offering.

I asked a guy at Best Buy about the first reaction he gets about the "look" or Industrial Design of the M/L hybrids. He said most people are put off by the sloped back angle (don't understand the purpose) and don't even ask why they are able to see through them.

If you ask me the damage to M/L is more done by the poor industrial design of this sort of thing (the Motion line).

M/L used to be about looking sexy and sounding sexy.

I just got an Audio Advisor catalog in the mail yesterday and they are selling one of the M/L speakers for 42% off of list price. So here is everyone's chance to feel like an industry insider.
