Very saddened but also grateful

On June 20, 2019, former Telarc engineer Michael Bishop announced that Renner had died following an extended battle with cancer.

I can't forget how bloated the famous Telarc bass sounded back in the '80s with speaker technology of that age, and how realistic it sounds nowadays, playing the same old LPs...

Great pioneer. I remember how, when I once visited a friend who doesn't like digital very much, we both agreed that out of all the LPs we heard on his system that day, the Telarc Tchaikovsky 4th symphony sounded the best. An early digital Soundstream 16 bit/50 kHz recording.

I had a few talks with Renner when Telarc was producing LPs of their digital recordings. My friend was Telarc’s sales manager before moving to Warner Bros. We laughed about the famous “1812 Overture” causing styli to jump out of the grooves, and he felt that “Alexander Nevsky/Lt Kije” was one of their best. It used the soundstream recorder as well.

RIP, Jack. Thank you for a wonderful legacy.
