I had to book concerts in different halls because Keith (Purite) told me that all concerts in Barbican sound the same, as they have the same frequency response. Festival Hall sounds different to Barbican, as different frequency response. And so on. So I effectively have 4 concerts

I thought the Barbican was pretty bad

The cost of those tickets is still less than my used High Fidelity RCA

Albert Hall sucks for acoustic (good for rock), Barbican and Festival Hall are good if you have center seats (though I doubt they will be as good as some of the halls in other countries).

How many concerts can you book for the cost of your B7 (Lampi, not Ludwig Van)?

Midwest fly over state..
Kirk Whalum Friday and Saturday night at The Jazz Kitchen here in Indy...a very small venue seating maybe 100. We've seen some big names there normally during the week when performers are headed elsewhere. Great fun!

K, nice choices. London has more great classical music than any other place on the planet. I have to fit all mine into the 3-4 weeks we are in London in the late Spring. Have you done any at Wigmore? They are all chamber - but great music and the acoustics are the best in London.

PS. London's classical music is still subsidized, though not as much as it used to be. So tickets are a great bargain compared to the major cities in the US. Opera is the exception, expensive as most top cities.

Larry, yes Ihave been to Wigmore a few times. For some reason filled my schedule up with these right now. Might add some Wigmore later next year. Let me know your list.

What I would like to do is listen to each of these pieces a bit before I go to the concert, then listen live at the concert, then come back and listen to them again, to properly understand the music. But that before and after takes a lot of commitment

That is a very good, but time consuming way to get the most from the concert. Some of the venues, like the LSO, put their programs on-line a few days before the concert - that also helps to get some background.

I'll check on the Wigmore schedule. We'll be back in May next year and I'm going to try to book most of the concerts we'll be attending during the next few months.
