The DS-EQ1 is a great option, and just under half the price the DS-EQ2 is a gosh dang bargain. Please let me know how we can help you audition one in your system.I really like at least the idea of the DS Audio carts and wonder how things would go if I went the DS Audio route, either with one of their mid-range EQs or with the EMM DS-EQ1.
This is the very combo I will most likely buy after I return from the SWAF! The EMM (Meitner) DS-EQ2 and the DS-003 cartridge. I am just hoping to be able to hear them first! The DS-EQ1 is a great option, and just under half the price the DS-EQ2 is a gosh dang bargain. I'm hoping that any "bit harsher leading transients" may be ameliorated somewhat by cartridge alignment adjustments. Fortunately, I have other phono cartridges and preamps and this will be a new added, not exclusive experience. It sounds quite good, but it is also distinctly… different than a regular cartridge.
I don't know how to describe it except it sounds more "digital" in some way - and by that I mean leading transients are a bit harsher but the background is also a bit quieter.
I can honestly see people preferring one technology or the other just based upon personal preference.
Not like that's true anywhere else in high-end audio.
