Akai reeel to reel GX-1820 tape recorder

Just purchased this akai gx-1820 reeel to reel w8track and cant get any sound from it just playing a pfe-recorded tape, not sufe if I even have
the tape path corrrect much less the contdrol seettings.
no I did not get a users guide with it, I guess it was extra.
Any help woould be greatly appreciated, would really like to know if this works or not or did i get ripped offf.

If you do a search for the owner's manual on google, you will probably find one. There are probably videos on YouTube that will show you how the tape should be threaded. I hope you didn't pay much for this deck because, well, it's not worth much so hopefully your definition of being ripped off hasn't been met.
