And for some' else ...

---

-> Fun music listening; 'I Like Birds'. :b

- The drums are quite prominent (recorded with emphasis), and tight at times (good).
...The synthesizer's bass is too blotchy on some tracks.
The soundstage (studio) is also wide on some (see track #1).
No 'Height' whatsoever here.
The vocals are clear and the main lead well centered, imaging between its two 'flankers' (speakers).

In Heavy Rotation - Active Audiophile Mode

* Gold CD, [HDCD] encoded, and decoded. ... Groove Note - GRV2003-2
[24K Gold CD pressed by Nimbus Manufacturing Inc, Arlington, VA.]

Technical Note:
--> The original 1/4 inch 15 ips original analog master tape was used by Bernie Grundman for mastering the LP on an all-tube custom modified Scully lathe. The CD was mastered on the very latest 24-bit digital processors including units from Apogee and Pacific Microsonics (HDCD encoder).

______________

I listened attentively to this recording, and I can easily visualise (sense) the cymbals higher thand the big 'caisson' from the drums (center). The drums are 3D indeed, even in the vertical plane.
Also, the trumpet, tenor, flute, flugelhorn, guitar, baritone from the left and right speakers are slightly higher than the drums at center (by a foot or two). And I believe that the floor's reflections are instrumental to that clear perception of height, ever so slightly it might be for a Jazz recording.

Just started spinning ...

* The depth is incredible! The space you can feel it like you were right there.
The piano on the left is lower than the trumpet at the right.
The piano is in line with the center mids of your left speaker,
the trumpet is above your right speaker's top plane.
...About a foot and a half to two feet higher than the piano at the left.

** The piano is at Left/Center and forward. The trumpet is at Right and distant. ...And higher. :b

=> Listening to the SACD version (Stereo).

In Heavy Rotation ...

* Linn Records - CKD 152 ------ [HDCD] encoded, and decoded.

=> Music for the ears and soul in all its grandeur.
I'm just enjoying listening and climb with the angels to the heavens ...
- And you'd better to have very good quality tweeters that are up to it,
if you don't want to bifurcate towards hell! ;)
...Only top-notch and smooth tweeters need to apply here. And I truly mean that.
- But the recording itself might have some' to do with it as well.
Anyone familiar with this particular recording here?

Ray LaMontagne "God Willin & The Creek Don't Rise"

By far my favorite artist lately. Very good sound quality on every one of his albums too.

I've had several of the Hearts of Space albums over the years, just had not heard all of this. Pretty cool.
