Boulder Amplifiers announces the class A 3060 stereo amplifier [$115.000]. At nearly 450 lbs. and 900wpc, the 3060 is by far the largest most powerful stereo amplifier ever released by us. All audio circuitry within the 3060 is linear class A derived primarily from our 3050 mono. Bias current is actively monitored and adjusted to increase efficiency and reduce wasted radiated heat. 120 output devices generate the rated power into any load. Units will only ship for 240V (no 100V or 120V units) to guarantee full rated output. A complete array of protection and status monitoring circuits is continuously active.

Actually those connectors are very good with large contact area and a strong tight fit. You will have to search hard to find something better for more than 20A.

The EU prices in Euro:

3060 €95000 - black option €9500
3050 €170000 - black option €17000

The next product in the 3000 series will be the 3010 preamp.

At this level ..Who's counting anyway?

Sorry, I didn't count the zeroes, I see now that there's one zero difference. Yes, 10% extra for black would be reasonable in many cases, but up at that price range it's closer to robbery than to being ridiculous.

I doubt if it cost them more than $1,000 to anodize them. More like $500. But why not add a 20x+ mark up? Makes you wonder how much mark up is on the amp itself?

hey! a few thousands here and there who's counting?

If the black version sounds better

And just to put things in (US) perspective 17,000 Euros is about $23,000

Another thing I just though of is they probably already have the silver chassis anodized to prevent corrosion. If so all they are doing is adding coloring to the process. I don't know how much more that costs but I'm sure it's not much. Maybe $50?

Charging 17,000 for a color options is a plain show of contempt for your customers, and is more evidence that some high end audio manufacturers are playing their customers for suckers.
